Extension Service Data Mart

I. Project Context

Database allow the storage and retrieval of large amount of information. Before
computers databases were limited in size by physical constraint. Computerized databases have
removed those handcuffs, enabling a seemingly endless amount of digital data to be stored. In
Extension Service Data Mart, submitting reports will be easier enter and store data. It will allow
you to automate the storage data. By using Extension Service data mart, we conclude that it will
be helpful to organize and have digital backup document. Users can simply type a query into
database and have a results delivered quickly.

The data mart can use security measure against unwanted access, it can use security
features such as data encryption and password protection to avoid the possibility of information
breaches. In Extension Service Data Mart, making a report won’t be a problem, it has a capability
to support any form of data. It has a feature that supports word processing, like making a narrative
reports, attendance sheet, documentation, etc. Its architecture will be made of JAVA for its
interface, and XAMPP for the database.

II. Rationale

In a manual database system, information must be found by hand rather than electronically.
Looking for information in a manual database may take hours searching for particular piece of
data. Base on the experience of some people, keeping a physical document is a drag because it’s
vulnerable to a fire and any disaster that may affect its content. Though there are no high
electricity costs, but there is quite a lot of paper and stationary that is needed to be bought
causing more storage area to be needed making it quite costly.
