You’ve poured a lot of time, energy and resources into language translation.

 When your translated content passes the nish line, how do you know the

language quality is consistently reaching your desired level? It’s not something

you want to leave unveri ed. After all, your international market success

depends on your brand and products hitting the mark in each country and
 region.

I frequently inform clients about language quality assurance, advising on the

when, why and how to engage independent language quality assurance

services.

It’s an excellent way to help you sleep well at night, knowing the translation

quality you’re paying for is there—with demonstrable proof.

quality assurance models.

The LISA model

While LISA itself has been defunct for a good while, the language quality model
it helped create is in full force. It is still popular.

Customized to each client’s particular needs


Great for highly regulated content
Sajan sets the “pass mark” for acceptable translation quality higher than the
industry standard using a customized version per content type or need
If clients want their stylistic preferences taken into account, we include this
extra measure in the way we score translation
While assessing quality, we measure and track trends—giving you more
insight into possible areas where your translation vendors are falling short
(terminology, translation memory, accuracy of meaning or style, basic typos,
etc.)
We work to help your translation vendors improve and push quality at
source—thus allowing the amount of language quality assurance to reduce

TAUS dynamic quality framework

This one’s a bit more recent, although it’s gaining more and more acceptance

and adoption. The model comes to us from the TAUS organization. The

fundamental di erence is that it sets di erent bars for acceptable translation

quality according to what you’re trying to measure.

More customizable, depending on content type and purpose


You can choose more rigorous quality standards to be applied—or less
rigorous
Perfect for dynamic content (i.e. social media messages) or machine
translated content for which you only need to get an instant picture of
whether your global content is serving its purpose
You only pay for the language quality assurance rigorousness you need,
nothing more

J2450 standard-based model

This model mainly applies to automotive and heavily technical content.

It’s possible to apply this standard for any source language and method of
translation, linguist-performed or machine translation
Doesn’t measure lapses in style, although it can be expanded to account for
this

An extra level of assurance

If you don’t have your own internal reviewer teams, we can act as an extension

discuss language quality assurance options with a company, I take into account

their target languages, content types, purpose, goals and much more—so that

we land on the most tting solution.

an impeccable reputation across your markets. It also helps identify areas for
 improvement where needed and helps you hold your translation vendors

 accountable for the quality you are expecting.
