 INTRODUCTION

STATUTORY CONSTRUCTION
It is the art or process of discovering and expounding the meaning and intention
of the authors of the law with respect to its application to a given case, where that
intention is rendered doubtful either by reason of apparently conflicting provisions or
directions, or by reason of the fact that the given case is not explicitly provided for in the
law.

CONSTITUTIONAL CONSTRUCTION
It is the process of discovering the intention of the framers of the constitution in
light of the realization of the purpose of the people in the adoption of the constitution.

IMPORTANCE:
 It guides or assist in unfolding and establishing the real meaning and purpose of an
ambiguous and obscure term or provisions of law.
 It guides or assist in ascertaining the meaning and will of the authors of the law in
order that law may be enforced.
 It provides for certain rules, legal maxims, doctrines, principles, tools, and
techniques that can be observed, used or applied in the ascertainment and
determination of legislative intent or intent of the framers in order to give effect
to a statutory or constitutional command.
 It can helps to better assist the client’s interest to construe to them with
appropriate language where they can understand it completely the probable
impact of the law toward them.
 It helps the Justices, Judges, Lawyers and Legal personnel to properly apply the
laws or statutes in a certain case.
 It helps to provide justice and fairness to the rendered judgement of the courts.

These cases were already accomplished last week. Moreover, I think it would be better to include the
said cases, to properly compile the important topics that were discussed to this subject and use it for
