Professional Profile

Application of Theory: Analysis, Design and Implementation methods

within the following activities:
 November 2011 – Present (A & A Environmental Consultants Inc.)
Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering Specialist:
With the design criteria for subsurface structures as civil engineering, such as preparations
for:
 Geotechnical Studies: For any development application
 If the site is within hazard rating of soft soil layers or contain land with a
slope of instability, or if the development expects any deep excavation,
cut/fill
 Assess to get safe design recommendations to reduce hazard risk to ‘low’
or better, and to provide stability assessment of deep excavation.
 Environmental Site Assessment Phase I and Phase II:
 Phase I: Historical and records review of property, site visit, interviews and
evaluation of information and reporting. If there is potential for
contamination then Phase II follows.
 Phase II: ESA investigation and sampling work plan, and undertaking site
investigations: All samples are collected, transported and analyzed,
interpretation and reporting of sampling results, if the contamination is
confirmed then design remedial action plan.
 Slope Stability Assessment:
 Stable slope allowance, recommended setbacks, safety factors…etc.
 Toe Erosion Assessment for documentation of existing Toe erosion and
Evaluation of toe erosion allowance.
 Erosion Access Allowance: Top-of-slope runoff erosion and Top-of-Slope
Recession Allowance, Long-Term-Stable Top-of-Slope.
 Erosion and Sediment Control Plan (ESCP) Assessment:
 Assist in the prevention of future problems associated with the proposed
work
 Potential erosion of sediments during the construction.
 A sediment control plan requires specific plans, drawings and proposed
mitigation measures.

 November 2011 – Present (UR Engineering Projects)

Civil Engineering Specialist: With the design criteria for structures as civil engineering, such
as preparations for:
 Demolition plan Assessment: Includes four Phases;
 Phase I: Preparations; such as issue required Demo Plan, Work Schedule
Noise Control Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Dust Control Plan, Air Monitoring
Plans...etc)
 Phase II: Interior Work: Initiate toxic ash removal and remove flaking paint
from walls, strip interior of all unnecessary items relating to plumbing,
wiring…etc.

2
EXPERIENCE RECORD for Saad A. H. Al-Dabbagh

 Phase III: Structural Demolition: depends on the location, materials of the

structure and size/height of the building. Metals will be extracted for
recycling
 Phase IV: Exterior Works All materials will be sorted and removed for
recycling or disposal. Once the materials are removed the site will be
graded and restored to a well drained and landscaped finish.
 Engineering Inspection Assessment:
 To conduct engineering review and evaluation of property structures
 The focus of the review is structural, mechanical and electrical systems
which include a description of the existing systems and report on their
conditions relevant to life cycle compliance with Building Codes.
 Recommendations include mainly relative to life safety, and upgrades for
general systems.
 Estimations and Quantity Survey:
 To review bids’ documents for different projects; specifications, drawings,
addenda, geotechnical reports...etc;
 Assist for bill of quantity for a selected division/s or subdivision/s to submit
the relevant estimated priced tenders to the bidders or the main
contractors.

SUMMARY

Over more than 25 years of technical experience, I have worked with design and design
modifications, load estimation, helping in construction problem solving, budgeting, life cycle
costing, site supervision and project management.
The following is the summary for my engineering experience within the academic engineering
knowledge context:

 Application of Theory
 Analysis, through the geotechnical and soil analyses to get safe
design recommendations to reduce hazard risks for any site
development application.
 Design and Design Modification: Review design along its
development and make guideline recommendations to modify the
design accordingly.
 Implementation methods : through the implementation for
different commercial and residential projects.

 Practical Experience
 Function of a component through the understanding of the Load
estimation concept and through the recommendations selection
according to the type of risk, specifications, reliability and cost.
 Significance of time the significance of time for the project
execution was experiences and shown during the fast track
projects and operation tasks of many project.
 Acquire knowledge, through the attending of the training courses
in Canada and workshops for UNICEF programs in Iraq.

 Project Management
 Planning, great emphasize on giving the planning stage enough
time, through the concept design and resources forecasting.
 Scheduling To ensure the data centre and project plan delivering
the project on time and on budget.
 Supervision through my role in constriction team in supervising
the quality aspects of the work as well as safety precautions.
 Risk assessment the study of any project planning, budgeting, and
scheduling should be associated with risk opportunities and how
to solve it. Applying the Project Management” triple +1 “constrain
(Scope-Time –Cost) + quality

 Communication skills
 Preparing written work writing of letters, many work reports.
 Making presentations As a Speaker Participating in many
conferences construction conferences in Blue City project. Also
conducting many Green Building awareness seminars in UNICEF.

 Social Implication
 The Green Building initiatives is the most suitable example for the
engineering involvement in highlighting the benefits of
engineering role; to the society in preserving the natural
resources and serving our mankind.
- The engineers’ role in assuring the quality of life to the
public in the good design and construction activities.
- The role of engineering bodies like PEO in protecting the
public and their assets; is through the legislations of
practices and licensing of professionals.
