INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS

1. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point Times New Roman font and 1.5 line
spacing.

2. You are to submit assignment only in MS-WORD format unless specified otherwise.
Please refrain from converting text/phrases into picture format such as .gif / .jpeg / print
screen / etc.

3. Submission Method:

a. Face-to-face student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment online through myINSPIRE
and a hardcopy to your facilitator.

b. Online student:
You MUST submit a softcopy of your assignment via myINSPIRE and another
softcopy to the e-facilitator via e-mail.

You can submit your assignment ONCE only in a SINGLE file in myINSPIRE. You are
advised to keep a copy of your submitted assignment and the RECEIPT as evidence of
online submission.

4. Your assignment must be submitted on 3rd – 5th November 2017.

5. Your assignment should be prepared individually. You should not copy another person’s
assignment. You should also not plagiarise another person’s work as your own.
EVALUATION

This assignment accounts for 60% of the total marks for the course.

OBJECTIVE

The assignment is meant to provide the opportunity for students to apply the PODC
Management Model in analysing and assessing strategies adopted by schools / educational
organisations in managing change.

Students are required to submit a combined report on the following TWO tasks:

TASK 1

Explain in detail the PODC Model and discuss its application in a school / an educational
organisation setting.

The student is expected to furnish credible literature sources for support.

(50 marks)

TASK 2

Select a school or an educational organisation of your choice. Identify a major change effort
that the school has undertaken over duration of time (e.g. the last few months or years) and
critically assess the strategies adopted regarding the four functions of planning, organising,
directing or leading and control by management.

The student is required to collect data by interviewing at least two senior staff members and
to refer to related documents and records.

The analysis and assessment on the strategies adopted are to be based on the data collected ,
findings of related empirical studies and student’s own understanding of the PODC Model.
