FUTURE SIMPLE

Form: I. will/shall + Vb (infinitive);


II. be going to (am/are/is going to) + Vb
III. be to (am/are/is to) + Vb
Uses:
 For decissions made at the moment of speech;
Of course I’ll help you!
Of course I’m going to help you!
 For promisses, threats, warnings, requests, hopes etc.;
If you don’t behave yourself, you will be punished.
If you don’t behave yourself, you are going to be punished.
If you don’t behave yourself, you are to be punished
 For actions/situations/events which will definitely happen in the future;
My friend will arrive here tomorrow.
My friend is going to arrive here tomorrow.
My friend is to be here tomorrow.

Time expressions: tomorrow, tonight, next week/month/year, soon etc.

10. FUTURE CONTINUOUS

Form: will/shall be + Vb-ing;


Uses:
 For actions which will be in progress at a stated/given moment in the future;
This time tomorrow I will be writing letters to my parents.
 To express future events which have been planned/arranged;
We’ll be spending togethet our next holiday, won’t we?

Time expressions: this time tomorrow, this time next week/month/year/summer, next
week/month/year etc.

11. FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE

Form: will/shall + have + Vb-ed/3rd form;


Uses:
 For actions which will be finished before a certain moment (mentioned) in the future;
By 8 o’ clock she will have delivered all the newspapers.
They will have finished their work before/until the bank closes.

Time expressions: by, before, until etc.

12. FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS

Form: will/shall + have been + Vb-ing


Uses:
 To put accent on the duration of an action which will be finished before a certain moment
in the future;
By the end of the month, she will have been working here for twenty years.
By the time we arrive there, it will have been raining for three hours.

Time expressions: by the time, by the end of the day/week/month/year etc.
