COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM
A. Course Design

Course Title: ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE (EIM)

Nominal Duration: 196 HOURS

Qualification Level: NATIONAL CERTIFICATE LEVEL 2

Course Description: The Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a
person must achieve to enable him/her to install and maintain electrical wiring, lighting and related equipment and
systems where the voltage does not exceed 600 volts in residential houses/buildings.

Trainee Entry Requirements:


To qualify as trainee for Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC II, a candidate:
 must have completed at least 10 yrs. basic education or an ALS certificate of achievement with
grade 10 equivalent holder
 must be able to communicate both orally and in writing
 must be able to perform basic mathematical computation

Course Delivery:
The program will build on the present knowledge, skills and attitude of the participants; thus the conduct will be
highly participative. The strategies will focus on interactive, self-directed and reflective approaches. Lecture-discussion,
demonstration method and hands on workshop will be included in the conduct of the program.

Qualification of Instructors/Trainers:
To qualify as trainer for Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC II level, a person must:
 Be a holder of NTTC I in Electrical Installation & Maintenance NC II (or higher)
 Have at least 2-years relevant industry experience and/or teaching experience
 Be of good moral character
 Be a holder of CSC Professional eligibility (for government position) or appropriate professional
license issued by the PRC
 Be computer literate
 Be physically and mentally fit

installing wiring devices, installing lighting fixtures/switches and notifying
