A word can refer to an earlier noun or

pronoun in the sentence.

2. The teacher asks the learners:

Expected Answer:
What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word used to stand for
(or take place of) a noun.
There are a lot of pronouns in the English
Language; however, for today, in our
lesson, we will be focusing on personal
pronouns.

3. The teacher asks the learners:

Can anybody give me examples of

pronouns? I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, him, her, us,
them

4. I have sentences here. The sentences are:

Tina rode her bike to the grocery store. She

bought some fruits and vegetables.

Where are the pronouns in the sentences?

5. The teacher says: Tina rode her bike to the grocery store. She
bought some fruits and vegetables.
Today, class, we are going to learn about the
Person, Number and Gender of Pronouns. Let’s
start with defining what is a Pronoun’s Person,
Number and Gender.

Person reveals whether the person or thing is

speaking, spoken to, or spoken of.
First person signals the speaker.
Second person denotes the person spoken to.
Third person indicates the person spoken of.

Let’s see for example:

1st: I went to Europe this past summer.

2nd: Have you ever been to Europe?

3rd: She went to Europe when she was seventeen.

Number shows whether the word refers to one or

more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

Singular means only one.

Plural number expresses more than one.

Gender depends on whether the antecedent (the

noun replaced by the pronoun) is masculine,
feminine, or neuter. This only applies to the third
person singular.

Modelling:

Before we proceed to writing actual

sentences using pronouns, today, we will be
determining the pronoun’s number, person
and gender.

I have a short activity here that I will be

answering, and I want you to listen very
carefully and observe how I answer.
