“I found Level Tracker for ICT was ideal for accurately levelling the pupils at the start of year 7 and
enabling me to measure their progress through the school. We have a limited amount of time for
ongoing assessment so Level Tracker for ICT was a fast, accurate solution to our needs.”
Leon Oxenham, Director of ICT, The Latymer School
Level Tracker for ICT is the on-screen assessment from the EP schools portfolio that
automates and simplifies your formative assessment requirements across the

The Management System enables you
The management system gives you comprehensive tools that enable you to organise
and administer your pupils effectively and to report on their progress. A user-friendly
interface enables you to navigate and carry out analysis with ease. There are four
simple steps to using the management system.
Set up classes
You can set up classes to reflect the
organisational structure of your school.
Register pupils
You can bulk create users by importing
existing pupil data from your school’s
management system (eg SIMS). The
user data fields include first name,
surname, username, password and
date of birth. There are two free text
fields and another field to store learning
considerations.

Assign assessments
Assigning assessments is simple and
flexible. You can assign an assessment
to a whole class in two clicks. You
can choose one of three assessment
durations (30, 40 or 50 minutes) to suit
the length of your ICT lesson.
Report on progress
The reports provide detailed information on pupil progress down to levels and
sub-levels (selectable by the teacher). You can enter your own comments and
your assessment of a pupil’s level in the two free text fields in the reporting facility.
This enables you to use your knowledge of a pupil’s classroom performance and
other factors to refine the results produced by Level Tracker for ICT. An easy to use
export tool enables you to export the data in the reports in .csv format.
Online delivery
Level Tracker for ICT is delivered as a hosted service, which means both the tests and management
system can be accessed from any computer with a suitable Internet connection.
Start up Service
We offer you the benefits of our Start up Service, where we setup your classes and pupils for you. All

A variety of assessments measure skill
level and application of knowledge
Level Tracker for ICT is a valid, accurate and reliable assessment that is designed to
accurately measure your pupils’ competence and application of knowledge.
It consists of three different types of assessments:
• Start of Year 7 diagnostic assessment
• End of unit assessment for all 15 units in the Key Stage 3 framework across
years 7, 8 and 9
• End of Year 9 revision test for the QCA on-screen test for Key Stage 3 ICT
Assessment structure
Diagnostic assessment
An adaptive testing model is used for the diagnostic
assessment. Pupils are assigned questions based on how
they have answered earlier ones, for example, if a pupil
answers a question correctly the next question will be
harder and if they answer incorrectly the next question will
be easier. The student is asked 30 questions tailored to their
level, drawn from a larger bank that contains questions at
four levels of difficulty.
Unit assessment
There are two parts to this assessment. Part 1 is a series of
independent, unrelated questions. This is designed to be a
relatively easy, confidence-building stage of the assessment.
Part 2 is a series of tasks designed to identify and test the
more advanced pupils in the class. This stage places more
emphasis on making judgments and drawing conclusions,
requiring the pupil to recognise and implement solutions
with less prompting.
Revision test
The revision test is a two-part test like the unit assessments.
It contains a random sample of questions drawn from all of
the 15 units (up to 45 questions from a bank of 675). It
helps you to identify any areas where your pupils are weak
and could use further revision.
Types of questions
Various question types are used to evaluate both conceptual
understanding and the application of skills. They include,
multiple choice, matching, sequencing, combination and
simulation based items. They are based on the following
applications: Office 2003, Outlook 2003, Fireworks,
Internet Explorer 6, Dreamweaver and Flowol.
