REFLECTION

The reason why we choose this topic is that it is suitable to be taught by using
the tools we have learnt in the lab sessions. Instead of focusing on grammar
structures, we aim to teach vocabulary and create an environment in which
students can have fun while they are improving their knowledge in English.

While we were planning our unit and lesson plans, we spent most of our time
during the 2nd S step which stands for Select Strategies, Technology, Media,
and Materials. As we discussed which instructional strategy, technological
devices, what kind of media and which materials would be the best for our unit.

While we were determining the prerequisite skills of the students, we benefited


from National curriculum and thought about our own 4th grade experiences. We
applied different learning styles to create an environment in which all students
who had various learning styles could benefit. We seperated more time for
group activities because we wished students to interact with each other and use
new information they learned in class.

We determined our objectives by using ABCD model of ASSURE. We gave


importance to the harmony between students and the content of the unit. Our
goal was the vocabulary and grammar structures taught in class to be easily
remembered by students later. Therefore we used visual and auditory tools. In
addition to these tools, activities were designed according to learners properties.

We tried to use the instructional methods, media and materials which support
our objectives and improve learning process. We focused more on visuality,
therefore we used pictures, posters, schemes to enhance comprehension of the
topic. We thought that it would be more appropriate to target age level.We used
videos and songs as auditory materials both for fun and pronunciation.
