Bosch has introduced a new CPV for size P, R and H injection pumps.
The new constant-pressure valve is a collar unit designed for enhanced long term durability.
The new constant-pressure valve may be available through the OE service organization.
As an alternative source, these new constant-pressure valves should also be available through
your Bosch parts Distributor.
The listed injection pump models manufactured prior to FD 283, 284, 286, 287 and 288 are
equipped with the earlier version of the CPV.
When responding to failure or problems on these pumps caused by malfunction in one or several
constant-pressure valves, always replace the CPV and the springs 2 414 618 012 at all pressure
valve holders.
This spring replacement applies only to pumps manufactured from FD 969 to FD 087. The springs
are not replaced on pumps with a date of manufacture prior to 969 (September 1999).
Standard warranty terms and conditions apply. Submit claims for repairs performed under
warranty within the standard warranty period through Robert Bosch (Australia) Pty Ltd.
When a ruptured CPV (conical valve) is discovered in a pump, removal of the pump from the
engine and subsequent repair at a Bosch Service Dealer are mandatory. The entire injection pump
must be inspected for metal shavings and wear. All elements must be subjected to an inspection
focusing on metal shavings and wear and replaced as indicated.
All CPV’s must be replaced.
Cleaning and repair operations are to be performed in accordance with the instructions contained
in the Bosch repair manual for P, R and H series in-line injection pumps (refer to W400/***).

Always inform the customer in writing that the CPV has ruptured and that the injection lines must
be cleaned and the nozzle-and-holder assemblies replaced as a result. This can be backed up by
the Bosch test protocol for in-line injection pumps, which must confirm that the pressure-
compensation valves have been replaced, and that the lines must be cleaned and the nozzle-and-
holder assemblies replaced.
Important:
Following overhaul, H Series (MAN) pumps are to be marked with the letter N on the pump-
housing lug at the upper right, adjacent to the pump data plate.
Following conversions to Volvo and Scania pumps, mark the injection pump with the letters NB
on the drive side of the pump housing (see arrow in illustration). Pumps produced before the
named dates of manufacture, but bearing the letters NB or NV, have already been converted to
the new pressure valves.
