Overall, my international day project was a success.

My group’s products, both the

brochure and the model, turned out as what we expected when we planned at the beginning.

They displayed all the information we wanted to show, also, we got some nice feedback from

the teachers and the students who came to visit our country room. I think my biggest strength as

a learner is that I always try to achieve the goal that I planned since the beginning of the

process. Along the way, there might be some changes on the method or the sequence of the

procedure but I usually end up with the result that I am satisfied with. I worked hard for the

project to meet the expectations of myself and my group members.

Even though the result of the project was quite great, there were some failures I

discovered as we were working as a group of four. In my opinion, we failed to communicate with

each other. When some of us were discussing about the plan for our project, the other members

were not listening and not participating in the conversations. Also, when some of us were trying

to ask questions or ask for feedbacks, the other members were not responding. Moreover, there

were some misunderstanding about the responsibilities of each members and about the

product. But the members who got the wrong idea about their roles didn’t ask for a clearer

explanation and we didn’t communicate to make sure that every member had the same

understanding. So it turned out that some of the members had to work harder than others in

order to cover the work that should have been done if we talk to each other at the first place. In

the end, we decided to talk to each other more to be able to work toward our goal.

This international day project was a little bit different from the self-directed project I did

the last quarter. The biggest difference was in the learning record part. This time, instead of

writing reflection everytime I did the researching, I got to analyze the information I gained and

think more about it if it can be related to anything I learned before. As a learner, I think I could

understand it better this way as it was easier to connect the new knowledge with the ones I

already knew before.

 From mentioned above, we faced a small problem due to our lack of understanding.

Therefore, as a person, I learned that communication among a group of people is very

important, especially when we work as a group. In this case, if we continue to work on our own

without discussing with the other group members, we wouldn’t be able to achieve the result we

wanted. Hence, what I can do better next time we would work in groups is to encourage more

communication between the group members as I realized that one of my weaknesses is I don’t

always talk to my friends about the project we were working together outside the classroom. I

regularly try to keep up with them and their work but I think that it was not enough. We need to

talk more and be clear about what we are expecting from each other so that we will be able to

improve ourselves and develop a better result.
