Answer: 48
27-20x4÷8+31=N

5. The quotient when 0.25 is divided by a number is 1000.


What is the divisor?
Answer: 0.00025
Divide 0.25 by 1000, the quotient is 0.00025

6. What percent of 3 kg is 480 g?


Answer: 16%
Convert first 3 kg to g, so 3 kg = 3000 g
Look for the rate follow the formula R=P÷B
R = ? , B= 3000g, P= 480g
R=3000 ÷ 480
R= 0.16 x 100
R=16%

7. Express 84 minutes as a fraction of 4 hours in lowest term.


Answer:
Convert hours to minutes, so 3 hours = 240 minutes
84/240 change to lowest term 84÷12 = 7, 240÷
12=20 so the answer is 7/20

8. Using only the number 43, how many times you will use it as
a factor to get a product whose ones digit is 7?
Answer:
43x43x43=79,507

9. Mary has 54 oranges. She gives an equal number of


oranges to each of her 13 friends. How many oranges does she
have left?
Answer:
54÷13 = 4 remainder 2, 2 oranges left to Mary

10. Mother gave Kian and her younger sister Php 2, 115.00 to
share between them. Kian spent Php 778.00 from his share and
had Php 271.00 left. How much did Kian’s younger sister have?

Answer: Php 1,066.00


Total money = PhP 2,155.00
Kian’s Share (Php788.00+271.00)= Php 1,049.00
Subtract the PhP 2,155.00 by PhP 1,049.00 the answer is
Php 1,066.00 share of Kian’s younger sister.

11. A water jar can hold 36 cups or 24 glasses of water. If there


are already 6 cups and 19 glasses of water in the jar, how many
more cups of water can be put in the jar?
Answer: 1.5 cups

12. There are 42 notebooks that are going to be given equally


among 7 children. How many notebooks will each child receive?
Answer:
42÷7 = 6 notebooks will receive by each child
13. Ricky had 24 boxes of chocolate candies. There were 350
chocolates candies in each box. He repacked all the chocolate
candies into packs of 70 and sold them at Php 24.00 per pack.
How much money did he collect from his total sale?
Answer:
24 x 350 = 8400 chocolate candies
8400÷70 = 120 packs of 70
120 x PhP 24.00=PhP2880.00

14. Annie, Jenny, Sam, and Gerry want to divide a certain


number of candies in the corresponding ratio of 1:2:4:6. What is
the ratio of the number of Jenny’s candies to the number of
Gerry’s candies?
Answer:
Ratio of Jenny to Gerry is 2:6 change to lowest term

15. A rectangular tile is 2 cm by 4 cm. What is the area of a


square with least number of tiles that can be placed side by side to
form a square?
Answer: 4cm

A tile is 2cm 2cm , least number to form a square is


2 tiles 4cm = 4x4 = 16cm2

16. At a furniture store, a chair was sold for PhP 475.00 less
than a side table and PhP 278.00 more than a kitchen dish
cabinet. The total cost of three items was Php 4,175.00. What was
the selling price of the side table?
Solution: A chair = ___________
B chair = Side table – 475.00
C chair = Kitchen cabinet + 278.00
A+B+C = 4175.00
4,175 –(475-278)
4,175 - 197 = 3 978.00
A+B+C = 3 978.00
3 978.00 ÷3 = 1326.00
A = 1326.00 – chair
B = 1801.00 – side table
C = 1048.00 - Kitchen Dish Cabinet

Answer: Side table = 1326.00+475 = PhP 1801.00


17. In a box factory, Ian finished 5 boxes in 2 hours while Joey
finished 10 boxes in 3 hours. If they work at the same rate, how
many boxes can they finished together in 12 hours?
Solution: Ian = 5:2 = n:12 Joey = 10:3 = n:12
60 = 2n 120 = 3n
n = 60/2 n = 120/3
n = 30 n = 40

Answer: Ian 30 boxes, Joey 40 boxes, so 30+40 = 70 boxes

18. Mother had 168 kg of flour. She packed it into 7/10 kg per
.3/5 packs of flour were sold to Tasing at P 3.60 per pack. How
much money did Tasing pay for the flour?
Solution: 168 ÷7 = 1680 = 240 packs

144 packs x P 3.60 = P 518.40

19. Dario gave 1/3 of his oranges to his brother and donated 160
oranges to children in the neighborhood. He found that he had 240
oranges left. What fraction of the oranges did Dario have left?
Express your answer in lowest term.
Solution: 160 + 240 = 400
400 is 2/3 of n ; look for the base
400 ÷2/3 = 1200/2 = 600
240/600 ÷ 120 = 2/5
Answer: 2/5

20. What is the missing number in the sequence?

Solution:
1+4 = 5-1 = 4
4+4 = 8-1 = 7
4+7 = 11-1 = 10
7+10 = 17-1 = 16
10+16 = 26-1 = 25
16+25 = 41-1 = 40
25+40 = 65-1 = 64
Answer: 64
21. Uncle Tirso had some fruits. 5/9 of the fruits were oranges.
1/3 of the remaining fruits were apples. The rest were guavas.
What fraction of the fruits were guavas?
Solution:
9/9 all fruits - 5/9 oranges = 4/9 remaining fruits
1/3 of 4/9 = 4/27 apples
2/3 of 4/9 = 8/27 guavas
Answer: 2/3 x 4/9 = 8/27

22. Tony subtracted a number from 21. He then multiplied the


difference by 3 and divided the product by 8. If the quotient was 6,
what was the number?
Solution: 21-Nx3÷8=6
6x8 = 48, 48÷3 = 16, 21-16= 5
Answer: 5
23. The price of the kilogram of fish increased 3 ½ times during
summer. How many percent was the increased?
Answer: 3 ½ = 3.5 x 100 = 350% -base100 =250%

24. If 4/7 of a number is 112, what is 7/4 of the number?


Answer: 4/7 of N = 112 then 7/4 of N = N
112÷4/7 = 112 x 7/4 = 784/4 = 196
7/4 x 196 = 1372/4 = 343

25. What is the difference of 4 and 2 hundredths and 3 and 27


thousandths?
Answer: 4.020 – 3.027 = 0.993

26. If 25 + - 115 = 75, what number is in ?


Answer: 165
25 + - 115 = 75
115+75 = 190, 190 – 25 = 165
Check: 165 +25 = 190 , 190 -115 = 75

27. Basha bought 8 t-shirts and 5 pairs of shorts pants for PhP
1,062.00. Each pair of short pants cost twice as much as a t-shirt.
How much is the cost of the t-shirt?
Answer: P 59.00 cost of t-shirt
8 t-shirts = 8, 5 short pants x 2 = 10
8+10 = 18
Php 1,062 ÷ 18 = PhP 59.00
t-shirts 8 x 59 = 472.00, short pants 118 x 5 = 590.00
so 472.00 + 590.00 = Php 1 062.00
28. Each box contains 48 candies. Out of 77 boxes of candies,
29 were sold. The remaining boxes of candies were repacked in
packs of 50. How many packs of 50 candies were there?
Answer:
77 – 29 = 48, 48 x 48 = 2304 / 50 = 46.08 so therefor
there are 46 packs of 50 candies.

29. The ratio of two numbers is 7:9. If their sum is 192, what is
there difference?
Answer:
Add the ratio 7+9 = 16, then 192 ÷16 = 12
7x12 = 84 , 9x12=108,
108 + 84 = 192 (sum)
108 – 84 = 24 (difference)

30. Pens are sold in bundles of 25. For every 5 bundles of pens
that you buy, you will get an extra of 3 pens. If you want to buy
364 pens for your friends, how many bundles of pens must you
buy?
Answer:
25x5=125+3 = 128 = 5 bundles
128 = 5 bundles
128 = 5 bundles
384 = 15 bundles
You need to buy 15 bundles of pens.

31. Three squares are place together to form a rectangle. If each


square has an area of 93cm3, what is the perimeter of the
rectangle formed?
Answer:
Area of 1 square is 9 cm2 each side of square is 3cm,
therefore if you put together the 3 squares side by side
it will have a length of 9 cm and a width of 3 cm so the
perimeter is 24 cm.

Add expenses and money left to get the total money

money of Tessa.

33. The volume of rectangular block is 3,000 dm3. What is its


volume in cm3?
Answer:
Convert 3000dm3 to cm3
1dm3 = 1000 cm3
3000 x 1000 = 3,000,000
3,000,000 cm3

34. A baker packed 29 boxes of 9 cupcakes each pack and had


3 cupcakes left. How many more boxes of cupcakes would he get
if he packed 3 cupcakes into each box instead?
Answer:
Get the total number of cupcakes
(29x9)+3 = 264 cupcakes/3 = 88 boxes
88 boxes – 29 boxes = 59 more boxes

35. The product of two-digit numbers is 351. What is their sum?


Answer:
The two digit number that you can use are 27 and 13.
27x13 = 351, so 27 + 13 = 40

36. How many 25 thousandths are there in 5/8?


Answer: 25
5/8 ÷25/1000 we cannot divide so use the
reciprocal
5/8 x 1000/25 = 5000/125 = 25

37. What is the sum of the digits in the product of 23 hundreds


and 2 tens?
Answer: 10
2 300 x 20 = 46 000 = 4+6+0+0+0= 10

38. What is the sum of 3 consecutive odd numbers if the largest


of these numbers is 19?
Answer: 51
If the largest odd number given is 19, the three
consecutive odd number are 15,17,19, then add
them 15+17+19=51
39. A tank has a capacity of 50 liters. How many seconds will it
be filled if its flow rate is 2.5 liters per second?
Answer: 20 seconds
Just divide 50 liter by 2.5 liters = 20.

40. Lito is weighing his school bag. He says “If I add 725 grams,
it will weigh 2 kilograms.” How many grams does his bag weigh?
Answer: 1275g
2kg = 2000g – 725g = 1275g

41. There are 36 packs of candies in a box. The packs of the


candies are divided equally among 4 children. How many packs
will each child receive?
Answer: 9 packs
36 packs divided by 4children = 9

42. Twenty-seven apples are put in boxes. There are 6 boxes.


How many boxes contain exactly the same number of apples?
Answer: 5 boxes
27 apples divided by 6 boxes = 4.5 round to the
nearest whole number answer is 5.

43. Liza has read 4/5 of the total number of pages of a book.
Today, she reads 21 pages. She still needs to read 1/10 of the
total number of pages to finish reading the book. How many pages
does the book have?
Answer: 210 pages
4/5 is equal to 8/10, 1/10 = 21 pages of the book
so 10/10 or the whole book is 210pages.

44. Teresa has 53 apples. She is going to give them equally to


13 children. How many more apples does she need so that each
child will received 6 apples?
Answer: 25 apples
13 children x 6 apples = 78 apples, there are
already 53 apples so 78 – 53 = 25.

45. A container holds 8 times the amount of water in a cup that


holds 2 deciliters of water. How many deciliters of water can be
poured into the container?
Answer: 16deciliters
8 x 2 = 16
46. The sum of 2 numbers is 100. Their difference is 20. What
is the quotient when the bigger number is divided by the smaller
number?
Answer: 1.5
100 – 20 = 80 ÷2 = 40 smaller number, 40+20= 60
bigger number, 60+40=100, 60-40 = 20, 60 ÷40 =1.5

47. Betty has PhP 60.00 and Nena has PhP 120.00. How much
money must Betty give to Nena so that the amount of money Nena
has is 5 times that of Betty?
Answer: PhP 30.00
Betty must give PhP 30.00 to Nena so that if
Nena’s money divide by Betty’s money it is 5
times as many as Betty’s.
48. There are 99 1-cm cubes. If the cubes are arranged to form
3 cubes of different sizes. What is the length of the sides of the
smallest cube formed?
Answer: 2cm

On every 4th day, she gives 4 coins to her sister. If Kate started
