Algorithm

1. Input the value of L1, L2, L3, L4, w, P and d.

2. Compute the value of member stiffness factors.
3. Compute the value of distribution factors.
4. Compute the value of FEM due to the uniform load.
5. Add the value of FEM due to the concentrated load to the span where it occurs.
6. Compute the moment using Moment Distribution Method.
7. Compute for the reaction at each support.
8. Compute for the shear using the reaction.
9. Tabulate values using the length of the beam as abscissa and the shear as ordinate.
10. Graph the shear diagram for the entire span.
11. Divide the length of each span into ten equal parts and its distance from the left end
support will become the abscissa.
12. Test if the location of the abscissa whether in the first, second, third or fourth span.
13. Test if the abscissa is greater or less than d.
14. If the abscissa is in the first span and is less than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x −
2
15. If the abscissa is in the first span and is greater than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − − P( x − d )
2
16. If the abscissa is in the second span and is less than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 )
2
17. If the abscissa is in the second span and is greater than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 ) − P ( x − d )
2
18. If the abscissa is in the third span and is less than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 ) + RC ( x − L1 − L2 )
2
19. If the abscissa is in the third span and is greater than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 ) + RC ( x − L1 − L2 ) − P ( x − d )
2
20. If the abscissa is in the fourth span and is less than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 ) + RC ( x − L1 − L2 ) + RD ( x − L1 − L2 − L3 )
2
21. If the abscissa is in the fourth span and is greater than d then:
wx 2
M = RA x − + RB ( x − L1 ) + RC ( x − L1 − L2 ) + RD ( x − L1 − L2 − L3 ) − P ( x − d )
2
22. Tabulate values of corresponding moment in each abscissa.
23. Graph the moment diagram for the entire span.
