center of beam section. Fillet weld is used for connection of plates with members.
c) Both plates (Tap plate & Gusset plate are connected using bolts at site.
d) Combined capacity for each connection will be checked for actual forces in members at that location.

Since, Tension in Bracing Member will develop Shear stress in Weld between Tap Plate & Bracing member.
Connection Capacity = Fs = 821 kN OK

Calculation for Connection of Gusset Plate with Column Web:

Since Force in Bracing member will cause both Shear & Tension force on weld between gusset plate & column
web due to two perpendicular component of force. Combined stress will be checked.

where, nn = no. of shear planes with threads intersecting shear plane = 1
ns = no. of shear planes without threads intersecting shear plane = 0
Asb = nominal plane shank area of the bolt = Ab / 0.8

Then, Vnsb = 271 kN
Design Shear Capacity of a Bolt, Vdsb = Vnsb / gmb = 217 kN

Then, Connection Capacity = N x Vdsb = 867 kN OK

Block Shear Strength of Connection: It is smaller of these two values: (IS:800-2007, Cl 6.4.1)
Tdb1 = Avg x fy /(sqrt(3) x gm0) = 1386 kN
Tdb2 = 0.9 Avn x fu / (sqrt(3) x gm1) = 938.5 kN
where, Avg = gross area in shear parallel to force = (Lt1 x tt) = 4000 mm2
Avn = Net area in shear parallel to force = (Lt1 - 2 dh) x tt = 2720 mm2
gm0 = Partial safety factor for Resistance govered by Yielding = 1.1
