Prince: He told the little mermaid how much he
cared for her “But” the prince said, “I can’t
marry you because I am searching for my true
love” He explained that his true love is the girl
who saved her from drowning.
Ariel: The little mermaid was really upset when
she heard about the prince’s true love, she can’t
even tell that she was the girl who saved him
from drowning. She had given up her tail, her
family, and her lovely voice just to be with him.
King: The following day a king from another
kingdom wants her daughter to be the prince’s
bride.
Prince: “No! I only want to marry the girl who
saved me from drowning”
Princess: “That was me, I was the one who
saved you from drowning”
Prince: “That is why you are really familiar
you’ve grown too well I’ve been searching for
you for years and now look at you a lovely lady”
King: “I guess that’s a yes from the prince”
Ariel: The little mermaid heard everything she
ran and went to the shore. She cried as if there
is no tomorrow. Then she saw her sisters as
pale as she was; their long beautiful hair no
longer fluttered in the wind – it had been cut
off.
Attina: “We have given it to the witch that’s the
only way to help and prevent you from dying
this night. She has given us a knife – here it is!
Adella: “Before the sun rises, you must plunge
the prince’s heart, and when his warm blood
spatters on your feet, they will once become a
fish’s tail and you will become a mermaid once
again, be able to come down into the water to
Attina: “Hurry! Either he or you must die before
the sun rises! Our old grandmother is grieving
so much that her white hair has fallen off, just
as ours did at the witch’s scissors. Kill the prince
and come back!”
Adella: “Can’t you see the red streak in the sky
in a few minutes the sun will rise and you will
have to die!” and they let out a strangely deep
sigh and sank down into the waves.
Ariel: The little mermaid pulled the purple
curtain and saw the lovely bride sleeping in the
prince’s breast, and she kissed him on his
forehead. She looked down at the sharp knife
and the knife shook in the mermaid’s hand, but
it flung into the waves. Once more she gazed at
the prince with half-glazed eyes, rushed off the
ship down into the sea, and she felt her body
dissolve into sea foam. “Who am I coming to!”
Daughter of the air: “To the daughters of the
air! A mermaid has no immortal soul, can never
gain one unless she wins the love of a human
being! Her eternal being depends on a foreign
force. The daughters of the air do not have an
eternal soul either, but by good deeds they are
able to create one for themselves. We fly to the
warm countries where the sultry plague-air kills
people – there we fan cool air on them. We
spread the scent of flowers through the air and
send refreshment and cure. When we have
striven to do all the good we can for three
hundred years, we are granted an immortal soul
and take part in the eternal happiness of
humans. You, poor little mermaid, have striven
to do the same with all your heart as we do, you
have suffered and endured, have lifted yourself
up to the realm of the spirits of the air, now
through good deeds you can create for yourself
an immortal soul in three hundred years’ time”
Ariel: The little mermaid lifted her clear arms
towards God’s sun, and for the first time she
felt tears. “In three hundred years’”

Daughter of the air: “We can float unseen into

homes of humans with children. They are
unaware of us flying into their homes. When we
see them happy, one year is taken away, but,
when we see a naughty child then we have to
cry tears of sorrow, each tear adds another day
to their suffering.”
