Reflection on the module

Educational technology module is one of the modules in the master program of

linguistics and applied linguistics in Ibn Zohr University. The professor Mr Ibrahim
Machaal teaches it. It deals with different aspects of educational technology. The
significance of this module lies in the improvement of the process of teaching through
technology. Students who benefited from this module will identify the roles of
educational technology in teaching, and can integrate a diverse range of technological
tools in the classroom to enhance learning and teaching activities.
I am very grateful to Professor Machaal for his guidance, recommendations, orientation
and tips during the whole semester. The selection of the components of the course was
outstanding; its content is highly beneficial to teachers. The way the content of the
module was presented is impressive as well. A large amount of information was
presented in a short period. Most of topics were connected to the use of technology in
teaching. Thus, this module was an unforgettable journey to the world of technology, a
place that changed my perception to the possibility technology offers in the field of
education. Having taken this course enabled me to change the way I use technology in
teaching in a better way. One of the skills that I learnt is this module is creating websites.
Professor Machaal has introduced ‘Weebly ‘to master students; it is a platform for
presenting all deferent types of data in a very organized way. After some time, I get
familiar with it. Now, I can create and edit my website easily. I am also working on a
weebly website for my students in which different handouts and useful document will be
presented for the second semester.
Discovering and working on programs , as image and video editing programs ,is one of
my passions ; I chose to deliver a presentation about some programs that I use every
day in teaching. After presenting these programs, I wrote a descriptive report for my
classmates. The report shows Cleary how these programs are used. My classmate’s
presentations were very interesting; different topics and technological tools were
presented. These presentations are dealing with various issues as improving the process
of teaching with the use of technology, and presenting data with the use of different
platforms.
Unfortunately, I could not started my portfolio earlier; I had some issue concerning
internet connection. The house where I live in Tata, the city where I work, has a low
signal of ‘Maroc telecom ‘which influenced my access to internet. The internet was so
slow, and websites were taking more time to open. The edit page of my weebly portfolio
did not open at all, only loading. After that, I solved this issue by changing my internet
service, switching from ‘Marco telecom’ to ‘Meditel’. The portfolio experience was
amazing; making my own website has motivated me to use these skills in my everyday
teaching.
I believe as a teacher, when teachers can find appropriate technology to employ or
match objectives being taught, they are both saving time and energy, which positively
influences the process of teaching. Based on what I learnt in this module, I plan to
integrate in my classroom, weebly, google drive and other websites for games and
relevant activities. Integrating technology will definitely motivate my students about
their schoolwork. This module will positively affect the way of teaching, Master students
are using or will use, because it is capable of bringing a change and reform to traditional
forms of learning. Personally, this module introduces me to the educational technology
terminology that will facilitate my future research and readings.
To conclude, this module has changed my teaching perspective and the way I teach my
student; I learned many new technology tools, and I gained many new strategies for
implementing technology in the classroom. This module has showed me the unlimited
possibilities technology offers to make teaching more effective and fun. It does not only
introduces to me to useful services and websites, but it encourages me to delve into
technology more in order to improve the way I teach. What is interesting about this
module is its content that can be considered as starting point of integrating technology
in the teaching and learning process.
