Simufact.forming: Modules and Tools
Modular Concept
Simufact.forming is a functional comprehensive solution that covers the whole range of forming
applications by standard. Additional modules and tools further enhance the functionality for
special fields of application.

simufact.forming rolling
Simufact.forming rolling enables an easy creation of any kind of models with rotating tools.
The user can define and visualize any rolling axis orientation. The number of rolls is unlimited
and it is possible to include any type of kinematic of the rolling process, including drag rolls
and powered rolls. It also contains an adapted meshing technology for incremental forming.
Simufact.forming rolling can be used, amongst other, for flat- and profile-rolling, cross-rolling,
spin- and flow forming, as well as reducer rolling.

simufact.forming ring rolling

Simufact.forming ring rolling is a dedicated module to run all kind of ring rolling processes for
both axial and radial roller movement. It includes a special ring-mesher technology and sup-
ports local coordinate systems for ring rolling specific model preparation and results analysis.
A special kinematics control unit allows defining arbitrary control strategies of various machine
vendors.

simufact.forming cogging
Simufact.forming cogging is a dedicated module to run all kind of open die forging processes
like cogging and radial forging. A special kinematics control unit allows defining arbitrary forg-
ing strategies following predefined forging sequences. A special control functionality allows
the user to find the optimized forging strategy by automatically adjusted strokes and tool
movement. All kinds of tool and billet movement and multiple manipulators are supported.

simufact.forming sheet metal

Simufact.forming sheet metal is a module optimized for simulating a huge range of sheet metal
applications. One of its key features is the usage of solid physics technology which allows sim-
ulating especially thick sheet components like as structural automotive parts amongst many
others. A specialized double-sided shell elements approach as well as a dedicated meshing
technology for sheet structures enables high quality and high performance simulations.

simufact.forming die analysis

Simufact.forming die analysis is the supplementary module for a detailed insight into the tools.
Tool preloads can be simulated under realistic internal pressure, the tool behavior can be in-
vestigated under realistic manufacturing constraints in coupled or uncoupled analysis. There-
fore it is possible to analyze tool failure and to evaluate different tool concepts.

simufact.forming kinematics
Simufact.forming kinematics is a toolbox to develop your specific kinematics concepts and
kinematic control. It is recommended for the facile modeling of arbitrary machine and tool
motion sequences. This module is usually customized to the customer’s needs. If needed,
machine controller data can be directly fed in as a simulation parameter.

simufact.premap
Simufact.premap is a software solution for the prediction of material properties and the simu-
lation of heat treatment processes. As a complementary solution to Simufact.forming und
Simufact.welding it rounds off the product line for a complete process simulation in the manu-
facturing field. Based on Simufact.premap all phases of a heat treatment process can be
simulated – this covers heating, holding, quenching, but also targeted cooling and tempering.
For correct material selection the user can recourse to a comprehensive material database
providing parameters which are key to a realistic heat treatment simulation.

Your Competitive Advantage with Simulation

What can you achieve with virtual process design?
• Replace expensive tryout by efficient virtual computer-aided tryout
• Streamline the process design
• Optimize your manufacturing processes
• Enhance your use of material
• Extend tool lifecycle
• Maximize the economic exploitation of your equipment
• Increase the expert knowledge in your enterprise

Investments Pay Off

Of course you have to invest into simulation tools before you can get
started but these investments pay off quickly – thanks to lowered
costs in process development and series production. Usually pro-
cess simulation pays off in just a few months.
