CELEBRATION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST
AND
THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY

INTRODUCTORY RITE

All are seated for the processional. After the processional,

everybody will stand for the beginning of the Holy Eucharist

Commentator:

Brothers and sisters in Christ: We are gathered here

today to celebrate love. The Holy Eucharist is an act of
love and thanksgiving and within this celebration of
love we will witness the exchange of vows between
Jerome and Gillian. Today they come to bind
themselves together in the Sacrament of Holy
Matrimony. Let us therefore ask God to constantly
guide them all the days of their lives.

We now welcome Jerome and Gillian, their parents,

families and friends on their wedding entourage. We
also welcome the main celebrant of this Eucharistic
celebration, Rev. Fr. Rolvin Romero and the
concelebrants, Fr. Shondell Rodulfo and Fr. Eric
Rojas.

WELCOME GREETINGS:

2
Priest: Dearly beloved Jerome and Gillian, in the Sacrament
of Baptism and Confirmation, you already shared in the
life and mission of Jesus Christ our Lord. In the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass, you partake in his table of love.
Now, you come in your own free will before the
community of faith to ask for their prayers so that God
will bless your covenant of love and make it strong and
lasting.

The people of God, our community, rejoices with you

and shares your joy as you come before the altar of
God asking for His holy blessing. In their behalf, I
welcome you today as a couple. May God bless and
strengthen your will and may He be with you as you
begin your new life as a wedded couple.

(He sprinkles the couple with Holy Water)

Priest: In the name of the Father,

and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen.

Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ

and the love of God
and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Dearly beloved, Jerome and Gillian:

God is love and has drawn you together in love.
But he leaves you free to make that love grow
or let it wither and die.
The Lord will help you forge a future for your love

3
when you stand to the commitment of love.

Let us ask the Lord to bless you as you begin your

journey through life together in this Eucharistic
Celebration.

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and

so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries:

I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers

and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts
and in my words, in what I have done and in what I
have failed to do, through my fault, through my most
grievous faults; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-
Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers
and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our

sins and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

Kyrie

GLORIA

Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

4
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

COLLECT

Priest: Let us pray...

Be attentive to our prayers, O Lord,

And in your kindness uphold what you have
established for the increase of the human race, so that
the union you have created may be kept safe by your
assistance. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

All: Amen.

Commentator: Please be seated.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING

Reader: A reading from the book of Genesis

(Gen. 2: 18-24)

5
The LORD God said: It is not good for the man to be
alone. I will make a helper suited to him. So the LORD
God formed out of the ground all the wild animals and
all the birds of the air, and he brought them to the
man to see what he would call them; whatever the
man called each living creature was then its name. The
man gave names to all the tame animals, all the birds
of the air, and all the wild animals; but none proved to
be helper suited to the man.

So the LORD God cast a deep sleep on the man, and

while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and
closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built
the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman.
When he brought her to the man, the man said:

“This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my

flesh; This one shall be called ‘woman’, for out of man
this one has been taken.”

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and

clings to his wife, and the two of them become one
body.

The word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 128: 1-2.3.4-5)

Reader: “Blessed are those who fear the Lord”

Reader: Blessed are all who fear the LORD,

and who walk in his ways.

6
What your hands provide you will enjoy;
you will be blessed and proper: (Response)

All: Blessed are those who fear the Lord.

Reader: Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your home,
Your children like olive plants around your table.
Just so will the man be blessed
who fears the LORD. (Response)

All: Blessed are those who fear the Lord.

Reader: May the LORD bless you from Zion;

may you see Jerusalem’s prosperity
all the days of your life,
and live to see your children’s children. (Response)

All: Blessed are those who fear the Lord.

SECOND READING

Reader: A reading from the First Letter of Saint Paul to

the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters:

Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. But
I shall show you a still more excellent way. If I
speak in human and angelic tongues but do not
have love, I am a resounding gong and a
clashing cymbal. And if I have the gift of
prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all
knowledge; if I have all faith so as to move
mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

7
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is
not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it
does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-
tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does
not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with
the truth. It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things. Love never
fails.

The Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

ALLELUIA VERSE

Commentator:
Alleluia, alleluia.
If we love one another
God will live in us in perfect love.
Alleluia, alleluia.

GOSPEL (John 15:9-12)

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: A reading from the holy gospel according to John.

All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Priest: As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in

my love. If you keep my commandments, you will

8
remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s
commandments and remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and

your joy may be complete. This is my commandment:
love one another as I love you.

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated for the homily.

BLESSING AND GIVING OF THE ARRHAE AND RINGS

Commentator:

12
May we request the ring and coin bearers to please
come up and stand at the right side of the priest.

Priest: Jerome and Gillian we shall now bless your

arrhae and rings. Our help is in the name of the
Lord.

All: Who made heaven and earth.

Priest: Bless † O Lord, your servants Jerome and Gillian

with sufficiency of material possessions which these
arrhae symbolize so that they may use them to
attain eternal life. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Priest: Bless † O Lord, these rings so that your servants

Jerome and Gillian who wear them may ever
live in mutual love and in unbroken loyalty.
Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Priest: Now give these rings to one another, and say after
me:

The groom takes the bride’s ring from the priest

and puts in on the bride’s ring finger.

Groom: Gillian, wear this ring as a sign of my love and

loyalty, In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

Then the bride takes the groom’s ring from the

priest and puts it on the groom’s ring finger.

13
Bride: Jerome, wear this ring as a sign of my love and
loyalty, In the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

The groom takes now the arrhae in both hands;

the bride places her cupped hands under those of
the groom. The groom lets them fall into her
hands, saying after the priest.

Groom: I give you these arrhae as a pledge of my

dedication to your welfare. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Bride: And I accept them.

Priest: Jerome and Gillian now I pronounce you husband

and wife and welcome you as a new couple in the
Christian community. Let us give them a round of
applause.

Priest: Dearly beloved,

let us now pray for the Church
and for our newly wedded couple
whose marriage reflects their union with Christ.
Let our response be:

Lord, graciously hear us.

14
Reader: For Jerome and Gillian that He may keep their
hearts united forever, let us pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Reader: That He may protect them from evil, lighten their

burdens and fortify them in their trials, let us pray
to the Lord.

All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Reader: That He may stir up the grace of the Sacrament in

all the married couples here present, let us pray to
the Lord.

All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Reader: For the poor and the sick and all those in trial and
affliction, let us pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, graciously hear us.

Bishop: Almighty, eternal God,

look down with favor upon your servants.
Grant them to remain faithful to you
and to one another.
At the end of a long and well-spent life,
reward them with eternal happiness together.
Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

15
OFFERTORY PROCESSION

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation,

for through your goodness
we have received the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness
we have received the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.

All: Blessed be God forever.

After the priest washes his hands, the congregation will now stand.

Commentator: Please all stand.

Priest: Pray brethren (brothers and sisters),

that our sacrifice be acceptable to God,
the Almighty Father.

All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands,

for the praise and glory of His name,
for our good and the good of all His holy Church.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS

Priest: Show favor to our supplications, O Lord,

and receive with a kindly countenance
the oblations we offer for these your servants,

16
joined now in a holy covenant,
that through these mysteries
they may be strengthened in love
for one another and for you.
Through Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right and just.

Priest: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

For in him you have made a new covenant with

your people, so that as you have redeemed man
and woman by the mystery of Christ’s Death and
Resurrection, so in Christ you might make them
partakers of the divine nature and joint heirs with
him of heavenly glory.
In the union of husband and wife you give a sign of
Christ’s loving gift of grace,

17
so that the sacrament we celebrate might draw us
back more deeply into the wondrous design of your
love.

And so with the Angels and all the Saints,

We praise you, and without end we acclaim:

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of host

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Commentator: Please all kneel.

CONTINUATION OF THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

Priest: You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

the fount of all holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

by sending down your Spirit
upon them like the dewfall,
so that they may become for us
the Body † and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed

and entered willingly into his Passion,

He took Bread and, giving thanks, broke it,

and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and eat it,

for this is my Body,

18
which will be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended.

He took the chalice

and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it,

For this is the chalice of my Blood,
the Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
which will be poured out for you and for
many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this in memory of me.

The mystery of faith:

All: We proclaim your Death, O Lord,

and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate

the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord,
the bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church,

spread throughout the world,

19
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Francis, our Pope,
and Reynaldo, our Bishop
and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters

who have fallen asleep in the hope of the
resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles,
and all the Saints who have pleased you
throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you.
through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through Him, and with Him, and in Him,

O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours,
forever and ever.

All: Amen.

COMMUNION RITE

Priest: At the Savior’s command

and formed by divine teaching,
we dare to say:

Our Father (To be sung)

20
NUPTIAL BLESSING

Priest: Let us humbly invoke by our prayers,

dear brothers and sisters,
God’s blessing upon this bride and groom,
that in his kindness
he may favor with his help
those on whom he has bestowed

Commentator:

May I request the Veil Sponsor to veil the couple.

The veil reminds the couple of their baptismal
garment and the Church prays for their holiness as
they begin their married life.

May I request the chord sponsor to please come

forward. The chord symbolizes the indissolubility of
marriage and the Church prays for oneness of mind
and heart, body and soul of the couple.

May I request the ribbon sponsor to come forward.

May this ribbon give color to your married life so
that it would yield a sweet, flaming and everlasting
love in your hearts.
Priest:

Holy Father, maker of the whole world,

who created man and woman in your own image
and willed that their union
be crowned with your blessing,
we humble beseech you for those your servants,

21
who are joined today
in the Sacrament of Matrimony.

May your abundant blessing Lord,

come down upon this bride, Gillian
and upon Jerome, her companion for life,
and may the power of your Holy Spirit
set their hearts aflame from on high,
so that, living out together the gift of Matrimony,
they may (adorn their family with children and)
enrich the church.

In happiness may they praise you, O Lord,

in sorrow may they seek you out;
may they have the joy of your presence
to assist them in their toil,
and know that you are near to comfort them
in their need;
let them pray to you in the holy assembly
and bear witness to you in the world,
and after a happy old age,
together with the circle of friends
that surrounds them,
may they come to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

SIGN OF PEACE

Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace

I leave you, my peace give you; look not on our
sins but on the faith of your Church, and graciously
grant her peace and unity in accordance with your
will. Who live and reign forever and ever.

22
All: Amen

Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

BREAKING OF THE BREAD

All: Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
grant us peace.

Bishop: Behold the Lamb of God,

behold him who takes away the sin of the
world.
blessed are those called to the supper of the
Lamb.

All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter

under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

COMMUNION

After the communion, the secondary sponsors will

remove the cord and veil.

Commentator:

23
May we request the cord and veil sponsors to
remove the cord and the veil from the wedded
couple.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Commentator: Please all stand.

Priest: Let us pray...

Grant, we pray, almighty God,

that the power of the Sacrament we have received

Through Christ our Lord.
