1 Laudate pueri Dominum: Praise the Lord, ye servants:
laudate nomen Domini. O praise the name of the Lord.
Sit nomen Domini benedictum, Blessed be the name of the Lord,
ex hoc nunc et usque in saeculum. from this time forth for evermore.
A solis ortu usque ad occasum, From the rising of the sun till its setting,
laudabile nomen Domini. the Lord’s name is praised.
Excelsus super omnes gentes Dominus The Lord is high above all heathen
et super caelos gloria eius. and his glory above the heavens.
Quis sicut Dominus Deus noster, Who is like unto the Lord our God,
qui in altis habitat, et humilia that has his dwelling so high: and yet humbles
respicit in caelo et in terra? himself to behold the things in heaven and earth?
Suscitans a terra inopem, He takes up the simple out of the dust,
et de stercore erigens pauperem: and lifts the poor out of the mire:
ut collocet eum cum principibus that he may set him with princes,
cum principibus populi sui. even with the princes of his people.
Qui habitare facit sterilem in domo, He makes a barren woman to keep house,
matrem filiorum laetantem. and be a joyful mother of children.
PSALM 112 (113)
2 Peccantem me quotidie, Sinning daily,
et non me paenitentem, and not repenting,
timor mortis conturbat me. the fear of death troubles me.
Quia in inferno nulla est redemptio. In hell there is no redemption.
Miserere mei, Deus, et salva me. Have mercy on me, O God, and save me.
SEVENTH RESPOND AT MATINS FOR THE DEAD
3 Tribulationes civitatum audivimus We have heard of the tribulation which the cities
quas passae sunt have suffered,
et defecimus. and we have grown faint.
Timor et hebetudo mentis Fearfulness and dullness of mind
cecidit super nos, have fallen upon us,
et super liberos nostros. and upon our children.
Domine miserere. Lord have mercy.
Peccavimus cum patribus nostris, Like our forefathers we have sinned,
iniuste egimus, iniquitatem fecimus. we have committed injustice and done evil things.
Domine miserere. Lord have mercy.

bn Magnificat anima mea Dominum. My soul doth magnify the Lord.
Et exultavit spiritus meus in Deo, salutari meo. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my saviour.

ecce enim ex hoc for behold, from henceforth
beatam me dicent omnes generationes. all generations shall call me blessed.

soli Domino decantabat dicens: sang to the Lord alone saying:
Fiat Domine cor meum et corpus meum Lord, make my heart and my body
immaculatum ut non confundar. pure so that I might not be confounded.
Biduanis ac triduanis ieiuniis orans, Praying every second and third day with fasting,
