(2)This is My House

My name is Janet and this is my house. It is a lovely house in the suburbs

of London. It has got two floors – a ground floor and a first floor.

On the ground floor there is the kitchen, the dining room and the living

room.

On the second floor there is my bedroom, which you can see in the picture.

I share my bedroom with my sister, Alice. There is also my parents’

bedroom, a guest room and the bathroom.

My house has also got a garage where my parents park the family car, a

swimming-pool and a small room where my parents keep some old stuff.

Around the house there is a huge carpet of grass. I love it because me,

my sister and our friends have lots of fun here. In the Summer we can play

hide and seek and then go for a swim!

(5)Postcard about a Camp

Dear Jassim,

How're you? I hope you are fine. Here we are at Summer Camp.

It's beautiful and there are a lot of fun things to do there!

There're a lot of things to do here. We learnt how to set up tents.

My friends and I lighted fire without matches. There is also a big

swimming pool. We swim all day. Roasting hotdogs and

marshmallows over the bonfire is exciting. At night, we sit around

the fire and tell stories before we sleep in the tents.

It is very nice here and we are really having a great time. Take

care!

Yours,

Sajjad

(1)Letter while on Holiday

Dear Salman,

I’m writing to you from foggy London. It’s nice here and we’re having a

really great time. London Eye is huge and high. It lets you see the whole

city of London. I promise to send you some photos.

Everywhere you go, there are museums and libraries. As you can see in the

pictures, there are even people reading while sitting on the benches. Can

you see Ahmed? He’s the one standing next to the statue. There’re many

statues in London. The double-decker bus is waiting to take us on tour to

see the rest of London.

We’re having a great weather here, too. It’s another cold and cloudy day.

Ahmed and I are walking around in our jackets and scarfs. I think it’s still

hot and sunny back in Bahrain. Anyway, bye for now.

See you soon,

Hussain

(2) Summer Job

Hi Ali,

Great to hear from you. Guess what-I’ve got a summer job! I’m working at

‘Shakazolo Park’. It’s amazing.

In the morning, I usually clean the place. I dust the toys and make them

shiny. In the afternoon, I watch the kids and help them use the games.

We’re always busy and tired.

So far, I really like my job. You don’t need actual experience but you have

to be active and friendly because you deal with kids all the time. Why

don’t you apply for a job there, too.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Write back soon.

Love,

Ahmed

(4) Letter of Advice

Dear Claire,

Hi! How are you? I think it is great that your aunt Sophie gave you a

puppy for your birthday .Don’t worry - they are not very difficult to

take care of. Here is what I suggest you to do.

You should certainly take him to the vet because he needs different

injections and regular check-ups. you should also remember to take

him for walks, as exercise is really important for dogs .Why don’t you

buy him some toys as well since puppies love to chew things?

Well, I must go now .I hope this helps .let me know what happens.

Best wishes,

Katrina

(5) Bahrain national day

Every year, the kingdom of Bahrain holds a huge celebration on Bahrain

national day. It is held on December 16th.

It was held last week so I went with my family to the Centre of the festival.

We saw people wearing their traditional costumes and holding up Bahrain

flags and pictures of the royal family. Then we watched the fireworks and

the laser lighting shows, which filled the night sky.

After that, we went to the malls, which were filled with gifts, flowers, toys,

traditional clothes and national streamers. We noticed that the buildings and

cars were decorated with beautiful lights. The streets were crowded with

people, so the atmosphere was so lively.

It was really great. Thousands of visitors, who come to visit Bahrain yearly,

attend this carnival. It is an amazing festival.

{Life in Bahrain in the past and nowadays}

In the past, life in Bahrain was completely different from our present

life.

People used to have a few jobs at that time, mainly farming, fishing, and

diving for pearls. Moreover, only boys used to go to school, while girls were

not allowed to receive any education. They used to stay at home and the

mother would teach them the housework instead. People also used to use

boats and animals to move from one place to another, such as donkeys and

camels. People didn’t even use to have TVs or phones.

However, all these had changed within time. People can now be seen

working in various jobs. Many of them are doctors, teachers, engineers,

managers and workers. In addition, girls as well as boys, receive

excellent education. They have the right to go to school, college and

university, too. Therefore, a woman has a lot of things to do rather

than staying at home and bringing up children. Furthermore, transport is now

more comfortable than before. There are cars, buses and planes so the

person can move and travel fast and easily. We also have TVs in different

sizes and moreover, there are mobile phones, too.

All in all, I think life in Bahrain nowadays is better than it was in the past

and much more comfortable.

(1)A letter describing a friend

Dear Fatima,

Hi! How's everything? Sorry I haven't written for ages, but I've been busy
studying.

In your last letter, you asked me to about my closest friend. Her name's
Zainab and she's very pretty. She is 14 years old. She's got shoulder-length
brown hair with hazel eyes. The first thing you notice about her is her
height! She's quite tall and also slim. She loves wearing comfortable clothes
such as skirts and shirts.

Zainab is sociable and outgoing. She loves chatting and eating outdoors. Her
strongest point is being reliable. On the other hand, Zainab tends to be rather
serious at times.

Zainab is the closest friend I've ever had. We usually spend most of our time
together. I just feel that she's my soul mate! I hope that our relationship lasts
forever!

That's all for now. I'd better go and study. Please write soon and tell me
about your best friend.

(3)An Article about the Environment

Our environment has been threatened by a number of problems such

as rubbish, air pollution and endangered animals. There are various
ways for individuals to help protect the environment.

To start with, individuals can do many things at home. They can sort
the rubbish into different bags for the recycling process. They can
also plant trees and bushes in their gardens. Individuals can also cycle or use
public transportation instead of driving.

At work, it is always a good idea to print on the recycled papers and to copy on
both pages. What is more, using the stairs instead of the lifts is good for both your
health and the environment.

While shopping, we should avoid buying food wrapped in plastic. It would be a

good idea if Individuals stop buying products made of animal parts such as
products made of animal fur and skins.

All in all, keeping the environment safe is the responsibility of everyone. if we

work together, we can really make a difference.

(4)Describing a City
Dear Ali,

Hi! How are you doing? I was really glad to get your email and I'm glad you
like New York.

Manama is a great place located in the north of Bahrain. There are tall
buildings, fancy restaurants and huge malls. People here are very kind and
helpful. I just love walking around in the traditional market where there are
many narrow streets and local shops. Getting around in Manama is quite
easy because there are buses and taxis. Like any big city, Manama has its
problems. It can be noisy with heavy traffic and busy streets.

I really enjoy living in Manama. There are different types of people and
cultures.

I could talk about Manama for days. Why don't you come and spend your
summer holiday with me here? Write back and let me know.

Yours,

Ali

(5)Strange Experience

It was the strangest moment in my life. It was dark and windy .My

family were out. I didn’t go with them because I was very tired. I was alone

in my big house.

I was trying to sleep when I heard a strange sound coming from

downstairs. I took my baseball bat and slowly went down the stairs. The

sound was coming from the kitchen.

I was very terrified. I grabbed the bat hard and looked into the

kitchen. I burst out laughing when I saw my neighbour’s cat there.

Someone left the window open.

I took the cat to my neighbour and she thanked me. I could never

forget that moment. The little poor thing scared me to death. But I was

happy because it wasn’t a burglar and I could go back to sleep!
