It is important to know the main

parts of a graph. You need them on
all your graphs.

Ok, the first thing you need
to do is come up with the
increments. Increments are the
numbers on the graph

On this graph
about the number of
hours worked each week, we
see that the greatest number of
hours worked is 48. This means
that we need to make our
increments no greater
than 60.
So, we
know that we can
count by 10s and
only use 6 lines, or
count by 5s and use
12 lines on our
graph paper.

Up to 60

This is
usually the vertical
axis (this means up
and down).

These are
called
increments

You can think of increments as

‘counting by’. LIke counting by 5s
or 10s.
Now we need to
label our y axis (aka -
horizontal axis). This is
where we label our
items.

Yorkies - Pitbulls - Poodles - Pugs - Collies

For example,
if we were
talking about
types of dogs, we
would put them on
the horizontal
axis.
Now,
we must label
our x and y axes
(no, not a chopping axe).
We do this so our
audience knows
what we are
talking about.

Now, we must add
a title so our
audience knows what
we are talking
about.

So, to make a graph, you need the

main elements:
1. X axis
2. Y axis
3. Labels
4. Increments
5. Title
Make sure you plan things out
before you create your graph.
Good luck and have fun.
