Yes it's possible.  You will need all the sales paperwork as if you were going to
buy it in the original state, plus the paperwork for the state where you're
registering it, plus something called a "no objection certificate".  That last one
will take some effort (aka $$ and time) to obtain.  It's kind of like a title search to
make sure no one has filed any claims (theft, accidents, back taxes) against the
vehicle.  There are innumerable "agents" who will help you with this process,
taking a cut and spreading the rupees around that are needed to grease the

Currently no. It will be a long time before such thing becomes a reality as even
after GST, there is still significant difference in state level taxes on automobile
products.

RTO reforms are under consideration of Mr Nitin Gadkari who is a rather

capable minister. But it is not upto him alone. In one shot there can be huge

1)For any vehicle which you need to ply on other states roads for a period of
more than one year,the rule says that you need to get your vehicle registered in
another state.
For registering you need to:
a)Take NOC from your state.You can also apply for refund of Road tax if your
vehicle is quite new.
b)Apply with NOC,RC book,PUC,Insurance copy in original to RTO office of the

Yes

You have to apply for transit insurance from state of purchase to state of
registration. You have to submit invoice, transit insurance papers, other
documents and proof of address to the rto of the registering state.

My friend tried getting a Royal Enfield from Tamilnadu and to register it in

Kerala.
So he consulted his RTO in Kerala and they gave the information that it is not
allowed for vehicles above 150cc. So it is possible that you can buy a Scooty or
any bike from a State and register it in your state but not the ones above 150cc.
You can buy a vehicle and register it in that state with any Temporary...(more)

Yes u can buy. But before dealing with any company showroom u clear the
whole matter abt u r going to use or register in other state. Tell to provide N.O.C
no objection certificate. After u can go to any Rto agent provide that papers and
get registered.

yes you can,you just need to go to the local RTO and get the local nos after
showing the required papers(ownership,insurance etc).

Yes you can,but you probably have to get a temp plates though.People do that all
time for tax savings etc.
