Saerles: The Sundered Continent

Deities and the Divine

With the Great Sundering ended and the balance being restored, the mantle of
heaven laid barren to the touch of deistic power. The old world drowned in darkness
and its faith lost to the chaos of the cosmos. The old gods are lost and their teachings
were swallowed in the dark times of the Great Sundering. The world needed those who
would take up the mantle thus issuing in a New Pantheon. Those who fought the
Darkness, combated its evil and helped rebalance the cosmos assumed their new roles in
necessity of the coming dawn. Like a phoenix rising from the ash, new deities rose
rekindled in the faith of mortals.
The New Pantheon: A New Dawn Comes

Mortals have found solace in the teachings and presence of new gods and goddesses. In the
wake of the Great Sundering has come a New Dawn; its light now shining over all. Those who fought
the Darkness and truly served the purpose of the divine have been recognized as the New Pantheon.
These are their members, domains and roles amongst the mortal’s faith and dedication.
Their origins lie obscured even to the most devout of clergy, but what is certain is that during
the Great Sundering the old gods had long since gone when they arrived. With the heavens laid barren

Devil and Demonic Deities
Before the Great Sundering there was a relative balance to the universe. The
planes spun in harmony around the energies that fluctuated throughout. This balance
was disrupted with the off set of two opposing energies, Positive and Negative Energy.
A great reserve of negative energy collected amongst the planes and it grew from the
sentient life and its tampering. Speculation of powerful magic, abuse of power and
corruption all paled in comparison to the storm brought upon the cosmos as Darkness
slipped into our world. With it came black darkened Negative energy and it stained the
planes with its vile nature.
One of the prime examples of its vile touch are the denizens of the realm now
called Hell. Toxic stone and boiling ash have cleansed the previous inhabitants of it and
all of the lower planes and replaced it with hideous monsters, outsiders and fiends!
Unfortunately this is not the worst of it for there are powers hidden away from even

Draconic Deities
Dragons are one of the few beings to recall time and history before the Great
Sundering. It is instinctual that all Dragons recall their origins, their power and the great
ones that came before them. Unlike other mortals, a Dragon’s blood is interconnected
to the source of all Dragonkind and its source. This innate connection gives them
everything from their power and magic to their egos and envy. A True Dragon learns of
his ancestry through its blood, it boils with the power of Heaven and the waters of
creation. It is this connection that drives many Dragons to lash out and take action upon
mortals and the Gods alike. From coveting hordes, to collecting worshippers and even
stealing power from the divine, Dragons have held spite since birth to gain what is
thought rightfully theirs. Throughout history there have been many great Dragons that
would challenge the dominion of mortals, but during the Great Sundering many such
beings died in the wake of overwhelming devastation. Those that came after still hold
their blood and have kept Draconic dominance over the skies, although now they
compete with the New Pantheon and a new world shaped around them.
