Introduction
Wix and Weebly are two popular website builders that are often compared. I have personally
used both in different occasions (mostly for academic reasons). They are both top CMS’s but
let’s go in depth and discuss each aspect that characterizes them.

Functionality

WIX

They key function of Wix is freedom and flexibility. It offers the possibility to customize your
webpage as you please. It is easy to use and gets the customer a sense of familiarity after a
couple of minutes navigating the website. It looks clean, eye-pleasing and organized at first
glance. It offers a wide range of stunning templates.
WEEBLY

Weebly, on the other hand, differentiates itself by its simplicity. It is the easiest drag and drop
website builder to use. What assures a pleasant and motivating experience even for beginners.
It has beautiful templates, not as beautiful as WIX’s but it certainly has other potentialities. For
instance, Weebly works with grids, it doesn’t give a person the full freedom of moving things
around the webpage. However, despite WIX, it gives the person using it the certainty that the
website will look good on every and each device.
Like WIX, Weebly offers a great assortment of templates.
Support for different business models

WIX
The templates that WIX offers could fit small businesses, online stores, restaurants and artists
such as photographers and musicians. Furthermore, in Fall 2016 WIX launched WIX ADI
(Artificial Design Intelligence), it is a valuable solution for such website templates as Business,
Blog, Portfolio and CVs.
WEEBLY
Weebly offers templates for small businesses, online stores, restaurants, blogs and artists such
as photographers and musicians. It also bids a bunch of templates for people who want to
create a website for non-professional reasons.
Available business process modelling tools

WIX
The website builder offers Google analytics as a tool but to be able to use it, a person has to
upgrade to an Unlimited package. What concerns SEO options, the website lets you add 6 levels
of headlines, which is optimal when entering search words in searching engines. However, WIX
doesn’t let you edit an image with all the attributes and it also changes a picture file name to
something cryptic, not SEO friendly if you want to rank your images on Google.

WEEBLY
Weebly, on the other hand, has a free statistics system called Weebly Stats. It allows you to
see your views, unique visitors, top pages, search terms and referring sites over a year time
lap. Furthermore, it gives the option to upgrade the package to be able to view more statistics.
Weebly downsides regarding SEO is the restricted use of headline text it provides. However, it
lets you name your images.

WIX
As mentioned before, WIX bids a variety of tools and widgets to customize your website as
much as you like, in total freedom. WIX lets his users only use two sublevels of navigation.
Weebly, diversely, let’s its users go as deep as they like with more sublevels and maybe even
create a maze for their users. WIX introduces improvements to their features on a monthly
basis. The website builder provides a great deal of templates with advanced design options
compared to Weebly.
The website builder gives you a lot of visuals tools to choose from and in addition to that, it
has an App store with paying or free tools you can add to your website.
WEEBLY
Weebly also offers beautiful templates to choose from and despite WIX, the user can still
change the chosen template. On WIX if you choose a template and regret it later, there’s no
going back.
Weebly has the easiest customising system, the user only needs to drag and drop widgets. It
also very intuitive. There are a lot of options and visuals a user can add to the website. The
website builder also is furnished with an app store with a variety of paying and non-tools to
choose from.
Performance and stability

WIX
Wix has slower uploading speed at times but it has an overall great performance. It is stable
and powerful.

Weebly
The website builder is very stable, robust and its tool are highly reliable. It works with a high
speed as a user is customizing a website.

Connectivity to existing business systems

WIX
Wix provides users with the possibility of connecting their website with the most popular social
media platforms. Visitors on the webpage can interact via their social media account, to send
text messages for instance.
Weebly
Same principle applies to Weebly.

Compliance with standards

WIX
WIX is one of the most user-friendly websites builders. It is suitable for all kind of businesses,
bloggers, start-ups and more.
It meets the standards by scoring well in each field.
Weebly
There is no big difference with WIX looking at the bigger picture. The two website builders
score quite the same in the different fields. Weebly is perfect for small businesses, designers
and especially bloggers. It makes everything easy and people love it.
Global and multicultural capability

WIX
The website builder provides lots of languages to choose from and is available all around the
world. Its freedom of design makes gives every person, worldwide, the chance to modify the
website at his liking.

Weebly
Weebly has the same concept a WIX when it comes to being global and multicultural. Even
though it is still expanding its language range. Both website builders are still in a grow fase
what concerns multiculturalism.
Conclusion

To conclude, Wix is designed for creative people that want to push their boundaries and
create a website exactly how the view it in their mind. Hence, artists, photographers, small
businesses or privates.
Wix provides endless opportunities to build a website to each person’s liking.

On the other hand, Weebly is at the top in means of easiness. Every person can build a website
in a few steps. Furthermore, it helps people out with premade layouts. Hence, using Weebly
doesn’t necessarily acquire much creativity.
Weebly is a good option for bloggers and small businesses.

As shown before in the ‘review scores’ Wix and Weebly’s scores don’t differ much from one
another. They both score good on all fields. Thus, it depends on the use a user will make of
the website and their specific needs.
