OBJECTIVE:
The learner will explain and write the function for each human body system.
The learner will make connections between the different systems and how they interact.
TEKS:
7.12 Organisms and environments. The student knows that living systems at all levels of organization demonstrate the
complementary nature of structure and function. The student is expected to: (b) identify the main functions of the
systems of the human organism, including the circulatory, respiratory, skeletal, muscular, digestive, excretory,
reproductive, integumentary, nervous, and endocrine systems;
BIO.10 Science concepts. The student knows that biological systems are composed of multiple levels. The student is
expected to: (a) describe the interactions that occur among systems that perform the functions of regulation, nutrient
absorption, reproduction, and defense from injury or illness in animals;
MATERIALS:
Notes Packet #5: Human Body Systems, Part 1
Notes Packet #6: Human Body Systems, Part 2
Human Body Systems Web Worksheet
Markers or colored pencils
PROCEDURE:
Students have learned about the structures and functions of each of the human body systems. This worksheet serves as
a review to compile all the information on one paper. Use the PowerPoint accompanying this lesson to explain the
directions of the web worksheet.
Beginning with the integumentary system, the class will work clockwise around the worksheet. Call on a student to fill in
the function of the system. Open a discussion to the class about what systems the system of focus interacts with and
why. After the discussion concludes, provide students with the notes from the PowerPoint to fill in the gaps. Move onto
the next system.
