Early Learning Centre Learning Experience

Purpose:
Reason for developing learning experience.
This could be in response to an observation,
discussion with the site supervisor, Ontario
Curriculum Objective,etc.
Observation
-Document what you saw and heard
-Document non-verbal communication
(i.e., body language, facial expressions and
voice tone)
-Document in detail: who, what, where and
when
-Documentation should be written in past
tense, objective and in anecdotal format

Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is the fact that children will enhance their ability to use
the tool of glue by applying it and also learning how to stick images with its use. They
will also use independent thought in order to decide where they want to stick the
images and of what.
Observation:
In class, the teacher told me to do an activity instructed by her. For this activity, she
made me cut out random pictures from the store flyers and give them to the children.
She told me to provide the children glue and make them glue these images on a paper
plate. After doing this activity is when I planned a similar one but Christmas theme
related since its December.

Describe the experience:
-Who will be involved in the experience?

Learning Experience: Children will get a chance to get in the Christmas spirit with
this activity when they are given a chance to glue images that are Christmas related.
They will also begin to identify what certain images are and describe them.

5.2 Fine Motor (Tool Use)-using popsicle sticks to apply glue
Setting: The experience will take place inside the classroom and the entire class will
be involved. The children will be seated at the table.
Materials:
Construction Paper
Glue
Popsicle sticks
Christmas picture cut-outs
Pen

you chosen these strategies?
Implementation:
-The teacher will lay out a table cloth and then call the children to the table where
they will be asked what colour construction paper they want from the option of two
colours- red and green which are given in order to represent a Christmas theme
-Then the colour they choose, will be placed in front of them and taped so that it does
not move
-The teacher will place containers with glue inside in front of them and also give
popsicle sticks in order to apply it
-They will then be given different Christmas cut outs of various pictures including
santa claus, reindeers, gifts, snowman etc.
-They will then glue these images on their construction paper and create a picture
collage
-After they are done, the teacher will write their name on the work and place it to be
dried
-Teacher will then assist the children in washing their hands which may be sticky
-The table cloth will be removed and wiped down
2 Teaching Learning Strategies:
Invitations- this is when the teacher will motivate the children to try the activity by
showing them what to do and getting them intrigued and interested to try.
Telling, Explaining and Informing- this is when the teacher will describe the
images to the children to explain what they are looking at.
