PHS now has a Cosmetology Program

The Cosmetology program has been equipped with all of the necessary
equipment for our students to excel in the classroom. The school district has
installed four shampoo stations, eighteen styling stations, ten nail tables, two
pedicure stations, a make-up station, and two chairs for facials and skin care. The
curriculum was developed to make cosmetology education effective, interesting, and
fun while also helping students develop mentally,
morally, and aesthetically appropriate protocols for
a career in cosmetology.

Our mission in the Cosmetology Program is

to ensure that 4th year students are able to obtain a
New Jersey Cosmetology license. Our goal will be
achieved by having students prepared each day
and study the foundations of cosmetology.
Throughout the four year program students will be
able to describe, identify, and demonstrate all
phases of hair, skin, and nails care. The final year
of the program students will have the honor of
demonstrating their skills on people from our
community. The students who have engaged in
this career and technical education program are
developing a wonderful program that will benefit future
generations of Pennsauken graduates.

New Classes and a New Room for our

Culinary Arts Program
Pennsauken students get excited about learning how to prepare foods
in school. Many of the high school students received basic knowledge about
Nutrition and Foods from prior years. This year the high school has developed
a Culinary Arts program that takes food preparation to a higher skill level.
Starting this year, the high school will offer an extensive Culinary Arts program
for all grades.
The program will focus on nutrition and health, food safety and
sanitation, and food preparation skills. This will include making healthy food
choices, safety in the laboratory along with the proper use and care of tools
and equipment. Food laboratories will give students an opportunity to develop
skills in baking and in preparing meals. This program will prepare students to
practice and reinforce workplace readiness skills needed for successful
employment in the food service
industry.
