Reflection for TRB Standard 5

The evidence I have used for my TRB Standard 5 are my supervisor reports from my most
recent and previous practicums. Fundamentally, as the standard outlines, is the role of
seeking additional support for developing better and more effective teaching practice.
I believe that the difference between the reports illustrates how thoughtfully I have
considered all aspects of my teaching. An important part of the improvement has been my
proactive approach in seeking additional support from sources such as peers, instructors
and effectively utilising online resources such as educational resource websites. As
illustrated by the report from my first practicum, my supervisor indicated that I needed to
work on my instructional strategies. What clearly illustrates my progression due to thoughtful
consideration of areas that were recommended for improvement is that I have integrated
different technologies in order to help with the instructional section of lessons. This has been
a considerable area of growth which has had positive effects on classroom management and
student engagement. Prior to this I was reluctant to use technology such as online media
and this was having a detrimental effect on my lessons. Furthermore, as the April practicum
report shows is that I needed to have better structure for my lesson plans. Again, in
comparison, the most recent report from my supervisor clearly states that this is a strong
area. This illustrates how I have undertaken a process that has improved my knowledge and
skills in delivering the facilitation of learning.
