STAVE 1: Foreshadowing Marleys Ghost Ms. Brown Grade 7

Hints of a Haunting:
Sights & Sounds that Foreshadow Marleys Ghostly Appearance
DIRECTIONS: Spooked by his door knocker, Scrooge rushes upstairs and checks under tables and double locks his door. He knows something is
wrong. Foreshadowing is a literary device in which an author gives an advance hint of what is to come later in the story. This helps readers and
sometimes even the characters themselves - develop expectations and make predictions about the plotline. As he settles in for the night with a
bowl of gruel, more supernatural events validate Scrooges initial fright and inform the reader that something bad is coming. On the ghost
templates below, record the different events that foreshadow Marleys ghostly appearance.
