Position: Research Assistant

Location: Brasilia, Brazil


Compensation: Fixed-term consultancy (approx. 45 hours of work) amount to be negotiated

Purpose of the role

The Research Assistant will contribute to a context analysis including a social environment analysis
and a stakeholder mapping of reproductive and sexual health in Brazil. The context analysis will serve
as a snap-shot of specific components of reproductive health in Brazil, enabling the identification of
gaps, priorities, opportunities and risks for engagement. Sexual and reproductive health is an
umbrella term inclusive of information provision and comprehensive service delivery along the
lifespan. However, for the purpose of this exercise, the Research Assistant will focus on the following
sexual and reproductive health interventions: family planning, surgical abortion, medical abortion and
post-abortion care.

This is a fixed consultant contract, however, there may be opportunities to engage in a comprehensive
health system analysis, market analysis and strategy development for a sexual and reproductive
health initiative in the future. The employer engages with international non-profit associations
interested in understanding the sexual and reproductive health landscape in Brazil.

Key technical outputs (approx. 38 hours):

Conduct stakeholder mapping including summary of key government agencies, civil society and
non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, UN agencies, foreign embassies and
religious institutions that participate in the policy development and implementation of reproductive
and sexual health in Brazil
Conduct a social context analysis of specific sexual and reproductive health interventions
Key administrative outputs (approx. 7 hours):
Research requirements for registering a non-profit organization in Brazil
Develop a calendar of domestic conferences and events related to sexual and reproductive health
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Bachelors degree, Master degree in progress or completed preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated interest in sexual and reproductive health
Excellent communication skills including strong written and presentation abilities
Proficiency in both Portuguese and English (all deliverables must be written in English)
Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable to the needs of the employer
