Energy meter is one of the most important component in the electricity generation & supply system.
The revenue of the generation, transmission and distribution organizations is highly depended on the
accuracy of the energy meters. If the the energy meter malfunctions or becomes inaccurate, there can
be a huge loss to these organizations.
Energy Meters are susceptible to malfunctioning because of many factors, which directly aects its
accuracy. Thereby directly inuencing the revenue of service provider/ supplier.
Errors in the Energy meter due to many reasons, such as:
Dirt (on the disk, in the air gaps).
Magnetic/metal particles(in the permanent magnet air gap)
Gummy oil and/or dirt in bearings
Damaged mechanical components.
Disk rubbing
Improper mesh of gears or dirty gearing.
Improperly adjusted bearings
Vibration of the meter
External magnetic elds which may add to, or subtract from, the normal meter magnetic ux.
Short-circuited turns in meter coils.
Tampering
Harmonics
Voltage Unbalance
Frequency variations
Temperature, as most of the meters are outdoors
Imperfections in the embedded software or sensitivities in the electronic circuitry
Voltage Transient Susceptibility
These factors majorly aect the accuracy of energy meter, hence directly aecting the revenue.
Therefore, we need to test the energy meter for its accuracy and other related factors. So that we get
the specied accuracy and desired output.
SCOPEs meter testing system is a Handheld Unit used for online testing of both Three Phase meters as
well as Single Phase meters and dierent metering systems.
Again, it is used for both Static meters and Electromagnetic meters etc.
It records KW,KWH,KVAR, KVARH, Power factor, Phase angle, etc
With these functions, it is widely used in Power Utility, Substations,Telecom machine room, Power con-
sumption examination, Circuit breakage inspection, Power abnormality analysing, Asset Management
and Industrial Production Management.

MTS consists of handheld Main Unit, Current clamps and Voltage testing leads and scanning head.
