SYNOPSIS

College Information System

INTRODUCTION

In now days providing the information to the customer plays

the vital role in any fields for improving the performance. In the
virtue of this, we are developing the application which helps in
providing information to the user.

The application has the following modules

1. Administrator module
2. Student module
3. Lecturer module
4. Subject & Syllabus module
5. Examination module
6. Query module
7. General module

Administrator module:

This module again has sub modules which helps the

administrator to perform the different activities.

a. Student module:
 The administrator will be able to add, modify, and delete the
student information. It may include student personal details as well
as performances in the previous and present examinations.

b. Lecturer module

The lecturer module helps the administrator to add, modify

and delete the lecturer information. The information will include
the knowledge area, experience, education etc.

C. Subject & Syllabus module

This module helps the administrator to add, modify or delete

the subjects as well as the syllabus.

d. Examination module

This module helps the administrator to add, modify and

delete the questions necessary for handling the online entrance
examinations and displaying the results.

e. Query module

This module helps the administrator to view the queries sent

from the users so that he can send response back to the particular
user. It also helps to send the feed back about the application from
the visitors.

f. General module
 This module contains all the general information about
colleges like courses available, fees structure, hostel & library
facilities, overall performance of the students, status of the college
etc. Only the administrator can change this information and any
user can view the details.
Objectives
This objective of the project is to develop a web based
application to manage the college information over the internet
such that anyone can access the system at any time according to
their privileges. The college information over the internet increases
usability of the application and gives more meaning for the system.
By using this system we can easily maintain and manipulate
the both staff and student information over the internet.

Limitation
The only limitation of the system is that we need a skilled
person who is having some basic knowledge about the computer
system and how to operate on internet application. Now days
everything is computerized and most of the people having
computer knowledge so overcoming this drawback is not a big
deal.

Scope for the future application

This application can be enhanced in future such that the
entire site is available on wap enabled mobile phone such that any
one can access the information on their mobile devices.
The database can be transformed to xml database such that
the data can be easily interchangeable between any applications.
This will remove the cross platform compatibility problem.

EXISTINGSYSTEM:

Right now the colleges distributing the

applications manually student has to come to college
and collect the application manually once the
application is filled it will be handover to college.
College will provide an entrance test details and a hall
ticket once the entrance exam is conducted the results
will be announced then the admission process starts.

DISADVANTAGES:

This needs power utilization from the college.

If student staying outside the city coming down to the
place and collecting the application and writing exam
will be lengthy process for them ad it will be
expensive
To conduct the entrance exam they have to spend a
lots of time for papers setting, conduct of exam and
checking of papers then they will release the list.

PROPOSEDSYSTEM:
 In a proposed system we are designing a portal
and all the options are made online. Students can get
the application forms online from any corner. Once the
application is filled they can send these applications
online with a DD number. Once the DD is reached
thy can take this application as a consideration then
the hall ticket will be sent online student can come
down for a entrance exam once the exam complete
result and list announcement will be online. The
interested students can come and take admissions.

ADVANTAGES:

With this students can get the application online

no need to visit multiple times to college. Less
manpower utilization for college. The announcement
of result and list is online so the transparency of
results can be achieved.

FEATUREENHANCEMENT:
 In future we can make admission process also
online. In this process we need to verify the original
documents like 10th marks card, P.U.C. marks card
and LC certificate, caste certificate with the help of
online attesting. Attested copy will be sent to the
college, once the student joins the college they can
produce the original and Xerox copies manually. This
again reduces the huge work for admission department
we can collect the fees in the form of DD. We cannot
provide the facility of on payment.
