Based on the information I read dieting can work however, psychologically it is not the

best thing to do for your health. People are wanting to start dieting because the health risks of

being overweight. There is not any proven facts that losing weight will help you live longer. It

has been proven that more Americans keep getting heavier and heavier. Dieting is not only about

eating healthy you have to have the right balance of foods.

This source is relevant to my inquiry because my question was what should I prioritize

while trying to stay healthy? This article gives me information on what I should focus on and

what steps I need to take. The information I gained from this is that dieting is not always a good

thing. People who arent having the luck they want while dieting will look for other ways to lose

weight such as taking pills or other supplements that are proven to help lose weight.

Bettelheim, Adriel. "Obesity and Health." CQ Researcher, 15 Jan. 1999, pp. 25-48,

library.cqpress.com/cqresearcher/cqresrre1999011500.

According to this article, Americans are the least physically active now than they have

ever been. The reasoning behind this is Americans now would rather drive a short distance rather

than just walking there, or they would rather take an elevator or escalator rather than just walking

up stairs. Fast food also plays a big role in Americas obesity problem. After walking out of a

fast food restaurant the typical american would have eaten over 1000 calories in a single meal.

The reason fast food is so popular is because of the price of the food.

This article is relevant to my source because it is dealing with diets and how to stay

healthy. It shows how unhealthy americans really are. This article shows that there are 300,000

deaths a year just from obesity. This helped me understand how severe fast food is for you if you

eat it regularly.

The title of the article is Obesity and Health and the author of this article is Adriel

Bettelheim. The publication of this author is CQ Researcher. The publisher is SAGE

Productions. The author is qualified because he was a reporter for the Denver post and the

In order to stay healthy you must eat healthy. You should eat breakfast everyday, that

way you do not eat too much later in the day. Also, you should try to eat three meals everyday

rather than skipping meals here and there and just eating snacks instead. When you go to
3

restaurants instead of eating the entire meal, just eat half and bring the rest of it with you. Most

people sit down and watch television after a meal but why not go for a walk after your meal?

This book is relevant to my inquiry because it shows you what to eat and when to eat. It

also gives advice to help you stay active and fit physical activity into your schedule. You dont

even have to go out of your way to do physical activity, even the little things help. Next time you

plan on taking the elevator, take the stairs. Park a little bit further in the parking lots so you have

to walk further to get into the store. You can create your own activity log and follow that on a

weekly basis. Once that just isnt enough anymore, start going to the gym for exercise. This

source helped me figure out alternatives to just going to the gym for getting exercise.

Exercising can be healthy for any person. It doesnt matter your age, weight, or if you

have any health problems. Exercising can help you perform better at later years in your life.

Exercising will help build endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. All of these will help you

stay independent when times are getting tough. It will keep you from falling and breaking a hip,

and it will help you getting up from a chair without needing any help.

exercising regularly and the long term effects of exercising. It shows that exercising will keep

you body healthy in ways that will longer your life. It helps you be able to stay happy because

you can play with your grandchildren and also you wont need help moving around and you will

still be independent. Exercising will also give you energy to make it all the way through the day

without running out of gas.

and Your Heart., purl.access.gpo.gov/GPO/LPS76071.

Everyone knows that physical activity is good for your health but most people dont

understand how important regular activity really is. You are at higher risk of getting heart disease

or other diseases if you dont exercise rather than those who workout regularly. If you dont

exercise you are also more prone to injury which will result in trips to the hospital and will

require you to take medicine to help treat illnesses you may acquire.

This article helps with my inquiry because it goes more in depth about how important

physical activity is. I found that if you dont exercise you are twice as likely to get a heart

disease. A way in which physical activity will help make sure you dont get heart disease is that

physical activity burns extra calories which will also help you lose weight. Physical activity
5

could give you more energy, build confidence, or help you to cope with stress or just helps you

to relax.
