CMT is the leading innovator for technology industry established for ten years . A rapid
growth company 50 million for annual revenue.
CMT is known for its culture innovations and it encourages respect for technical expertise
and conflict acceptability as part of the usual company life
Henry has to take a vacation for two weeks and he delegates his job to his co-workers, Dave
Peterson. The dilemma begins when this company get a new projects in developing CD-
Room self study course during that time So, he must make a decision to choose between
Jeremy and Seamus who will be in-charged for this project S0, Dave is the person who faces
the dilemma for this case Both of them have their own specialties
Personal appeal Both Seamus and Jeremy appealed to the peer level relationship they have
with Dave to influence Dave to choose either as the project leader to develop the CD-ROM.
Pressure Both Seamus and Jeremy approached Dave to make a quick decision on leadership
while Henry is on vacation.
Legitimizing Both Seamus and Jeremy have lobbied to be the project lead. They both
supported that request by claiming authority and exceptional knowledge and experience.
Both Seamus and Jeremy also used some good politics through Rational Persuasion both
presented facts that would support why they should be allowed to develop the course. Seamus
advised that his staff had previously developed CD-ROM presentations and worked closely
with software engineers. Jeremy advised that his staff was experienced in creating self-study
training and art of training used (pedagogy) was critical for CD-ROM success.
Objectives
To develop a proper decision making as to who gets the project without making things
between Seamus and Jeremy even more complicated than its
To develop the new CD-ROM for while using efficiency source
Thesis statement
How can Dave choose who should complete the project while ensuring conflict to not
happen?
Analysis of Causes
The current dilemma occurred because both seamus and Jeremy presented to dave and both
of them have their own specialties. So before Dave choose he should consider the following
points
.Programmed /non-programmed: is the decision needed program or non program is it
situation happened before or is it unique situation
.Decision Making Model : its one of the approach managers use to make decisions usually
falls Dave needs to figure out which model would need to be adopted if its classical model,
administrative model, or political model
.Uncertainty: organizational goal is clear which is to develop the CD-ROM but dave does nt
have enough information Outside of the arguments presented by both Seamus and Jeremy,
there appeared to be little research into the project or taking a more in-depth look to
determine which skills would be needed to successfully lead the new project and whether
Jeremy or Seamus had those skills.
Risk: The interim manager Dave understood that he would be returning to his position and
was concerned with making a decision that would impact his working relationship with his
peers. He was demonstrating a propensity toward an acceptable decision rather than what
may have been the optimal choice so he was not taking any risks.
For the CD-ROM to be produced dave needed to make decision since the product was not in
time, so dave has three options
First to choose Jeremy second choose Seamus or third to make cooperation between Jeremy
and Seamus to happen
Jeremy

Seamus

Individual diversities
I choose option three cooperation between Jeremy and Seamus because the combine experts
and techniques of these two managers will increase the efficiency, effectivity of the company.
Conclusion:
The following steps can be used by Dave Peterson as guide for the decision making
process:
1. Organize a team composed of both technical and software management support that
are experts in their own specialized areas.
2. Collectively call for a meeting with the new team and brainstorm ideas that can
facilitate the conduct of the said new project.
3. Prepare a new timeline of activities for the new technology taking into consideration
the collective inputs from the newly organized team.
4. Monitor from time to time the chosen alternatives proposed by the team members for
monitoring and control purposes.
5. Constantly maintain harmonious relationship from each members of the team and
continue the culture of respect for individual differences and technical expertise.
