Enang, who is from Akwa Ibom State in the South-South geopolitical zone of the
country, at an event in Abuja, said the Federal Government deserved the support of
the Cross River and Akwa Ibom people as well as the entire inhabitants of the South-
South because the current administration had been kind to them and generous in
terms of appointments from the two states.

He noted that Buhari gave the two states the Office of the Head of the Civil Service
of the Federation and Chief of Naval Staff.

Enang said, He (Buhari) has given us the Chief of Naval Staff, a very high ranking
officer in the federal security council. He has given us the Minister of Budget (and
National Planning) and, then, my humble self, as the Senior Special Assistant (to the
President) on National Assembly Legislative Matters. He has also given us the
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

In the entire South-South region, he gave us Minister of Transportation in charge of

about three ministries merged together. He also gave us the Minister (of State) of
Petroleum.

Along with Enang, the President had approved the appointments of Babachir David Lawal
from Adamawa State as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Abba Kyari from
Borno State as his Chief of Staff; Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (retd.) from Kano State as
Comptroller-General, Nigerian Customs Service; Kure Martin Abeshi from Nasarawa State
as Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service; and Suleiman Kawu from Kano State
as SSA on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).

Like Enang, Adesina was the only southerner in his own batch.

The northerners in this batch of appointments were the Director-General of the

Department of State Services, Lawal Daura; Acting Chairman of the Independent
National Electoral Commission, Mrs. Amina Zakari (who succeeded Prof. Attahiru
Jega, a northerner, and had since been replaced by another northerner (Prof.
Mahmood Yakubu); the Director, Department of Petroleum Resources, Mordecai
Danteni Baba Ladan; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris.

Also in the batch were the Presidents Chief Security Officer, Abdulrahman Mani;
State Chief of Protocol, Abdullahi Kazaure; Aide-De-Camp, Lt.-Col. Muhammed
Abubakar; and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Only Adesina, who hails from Osun State in the South-West, came from the South.

President Muhammadu Buhari has during the meeting of the

Federal Executive Council (FEC) on August 10, Wednesday,
inaugurated his economic and political advisers.
The ceremony of the oath of office on his economic adviser, Dr. Adeyemi
Dipeolu happened at the Council Chamber of the presidential villa, Abuja.
Buhari who presided over the meeting also inaugurated other four special
advisers and one permanent secretary.

NairaNaijaNews.Com lists five appointments which raised eyebrows across Nigeria.

Read below:

1. Sunday Aghaeze (Personal assistant to the president on photography):

Buhari appointed Aghaeze on Sunday, February 28.

The appointment according to a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, took
effect from June 1, 2015. The appointment took many political observers by surprise because the president already has a
personal photographer Bayo Omoboriowo.

Rumours that the Aghaezes appointment was influenced by Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, a known supporter of the
president also didnt help matters. Many say the appointment was unnecessary and a waste of resources.

Sunday Aghaeze Aghaeze has 16 years working experience has a professional photo journalist

2. Ben Akabueze (Special Adviser on planning to the minister of budget and national planning):
A curious appointment, given the vast experience of Akabueze and also the thought behind appointing a special adviser for a
board room guru like the present minister, Udoma Udo Udoma.

One would think that Akabueze is bigger than the office and should be fixed in a capacity where he can make real impact
and not creating an unnecessary office for him. He is the immediate past commissioner for economic planning and budget in
Lagos state

3. Tolu Ogunlesi (Special assistant on digital/new media):

Tolu Ogunlesi was on February 18 appointed as the special assistant on digital/new media by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is despite the fact that the president had earlier appointed Bashir Ahmad, as his personal assistant on new media. A
clear duplication of office and duties and indeed a wasteful and needless appointment.

Tolu Ogunlesi is a popular blogger, journalist and a columnist

4. Abike Dabiri-Erewa (Senior special assistant on foreign affairs and the diaspora):
Perhaps, her commendable performance as the chairperson House of Representatives committee on diaspora affairs between
2007 and 2015 influenced the presidents decision. But, a ministry that already has 2 ministers, Geoffrey Onyeama
and Khadija Bukar Abba hardly needs anyone to function as the presidents senior special assistant, especially for a
government that promised to prune down on costs. What an irony! Abike Dabiri-Erewa was chairman of the House of
Representatives committee on media and publicity between 2003 and 2007 and later chaired the House committee on
diaspora affairs between 2007 and 2015

5. Senator Ita Enang, senior special assistant on National Assembly matters (Senate): Ita Enang; Honourable
Suleiman Kawu, senior special assistant on National Assembly matters (House of Representatives):
First of its kind in the history of Nigerias democracy, Buhari perhaps showed us what to expect when he appointed the duo
last year. Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Late Musa Yaadua and his successor, Goodluck Jonathan all had one individual as
their senior special assistant on National Assembly matters. But for reasons best known to the present administration, it has
to be two. Another clear case of waste!

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Bashir Ahmad as his Personal Assistant on
New Media.

Mr. Bashir, 24, is an indigene of Kano state. Until his appointment, he was the Online
Editor (Hausa) for Leadership Newspaper.

Mr. Bashir graduated from Bayero University Kano in 2013, with Bachelor of Arts in Mass
Communication.

He worked as an online editor and reporter at Rariya Hausa Newspaper, before joining
Leadership as an online editor.

Mr. Bashir also worked as the personal assistant on new media to Sam Nda-Isaiah, the
publisher of Leadership, who contested along Mr. Buhari for the All Progressives
Congress, APCs presidential ticket for the 2015 election.

He later served at the Buhari Support Organization (BSO) prior to the presidential
elections.

The new presidential aide will oversee Mr. Buharis communication on social media and
related platforms.

Here are Jonathans special advisers and the positions they occupied:

(Office of the Vice President)

Senator Isaiah Ballat Special Adviser to the President for Special

Duties (Office of the Vice President).
According to Abati, my assignment is very simple, to assist reporters and editors
to do their jobs better in having access to facts, in a manner in which it will enable them
understand this presidency. This is a presidency that is committed to the idea of
transparency, accountability and collective ownership of major issues at stake. In my
view, these will be areas of my engagement. Also speaking newly promoted Special
Adviser on Research and Strategy, Dr Oronto Douglas, promised to contribute his quota
to the Jonathan/Sambo transformation agenda, for the interest of Nigerians; the present
generation and Nigerians of generations to come. According to him, It is going to be a
team work. All Nigerians would have to work together to move the nation forward. He
noted that the distractions maybe there, the cynicism maybe there but as we move
forward step by step, block by block we will be moving in the interest of all Nigerians and
for the good of all Nigerians of the present and generations to come. They were sworn-
in after the State House Permanent secretary, Dr Dauda Jallo, had recited their citation.
Those sworn-in are Mr. Oronto Douglas, Special Adviser to the President on Research
and Strategy; Senator Joy Emordi, Special Adviser to the President on National
Assembly Matters; Prof. Dan Adebiyi, Special Adviser to the President on Special
