Learning By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:
- Present the concept and facts regarding the pilgrimage to Mecca for
Objectives: Hajj of people of Islamic fate
- To differentiate why a person would go out of their way and devout s
much time and effort for an event they believe is such an important
of their life
- To manifest other scenarios and important aspects of regular people
lives the importance and fulfillment a pilgrimage may have.

- Students shall take down various keywords concerning the Hajj
Ex. Hajj: The once in a lifetime pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca during the Islamic
month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Ka'bah: Small shrine located near the center of the great Mosque in Mecca. Considered b
Muslims to be the most sacred spot on earth. First house of worship, constructed by Abra
and Ishmael on God's instructions
- A step by step process of the Hajj shall be layed for the students to see and take down
Ex. Step 1: The Grand Mosque: Pilgrims begin the hajj by circling the Kabah seven time
- As well a list of celebrities shall be presented who of partaken in Hajj in Mecca
Ex. Mike Tyson
- A video concerning the Hajj shall be shown to help the students understand and visualize
experience behind and as well the importance for Muslim people

75-78min Activity: Students shall be split off into three groups, one member being the Reporter, one memb
being the recorder, and one member being the chairman, making sure the group stays on task. Ea
group will have to come up with their own type of pilgrimage creating it out of something that ca
done in Montreal. Categories they can cover shall be provided, such as food (i.e. Poutine), sports
(Habs), boroughs (NDG), historical sites (Olympic Stadium), buildings (Schools, stores, restaura
They will have to answer the following questions:
- What is pilgrimage on?
- What is the importance of said pilgrimage?
- How long does the pilgrimage last?
- What does wear for it?
- What rituals or practices are in place?
- Where/how does the pilgrimage end

Conclusion: Students shall be asked to stop where they are, and will be given time next class to
up from where they left off from and will present at the beginning of next class.
