Romeo Santos Research Essay

Romeo Santos is one of the most famous and successful Latin artists in the world. He is

well known for writing, singing, and producing Bachata music. Bachata music is a well known

style of music in the Latin culture. It includes instruments like, guitars and bongos. Santos was

born in The Bronx, New York City. His father is Dominican and his mother is Puerto Rican. In

the 1990s, he and his cousins, Henry, Max, and Lenny came up with their band. They were a

huge success especially after they changed their name. Years later, they all decided to go solo.

Santos had no idea how much his life would change.

Santos and his cousins formed their band, Los Tinellers. (The Teenagers). After

releasing their first album Trampa de Amor (Love Trap), they changed their name to Aventura

(Adventure). Santos was the main singer and songwriter for Aventura. It was until 1999 when

they had their big break. By 2004, their big hit Obsesion (Obsession) was top in France,

Germany, and Italy. Sadly, the group split because they wanted to work on solo projects. They

each have their own success. But so many fans wanted to see them reunite as a band. They

reunited in 2015 and had their last concert as a band December 2015. Their shows sold out very

quickly.

After their split, Santos solo career was a big hit. He came out with his first album,
Formula, Vol 1. In May 2011, Santos released his first solo single You from his album

Formula, Vol 1. It had topped #1 in Hot Latin Songs and Tropical Songs. He made history as

the very first Latin artist to perform at New Yorks landmark; Yankee Stadium. He sold out two

shows, with about 50, 000 fan at both. Rolling Stone said he was one of the summers hottest

shows of 2014. Sucsess followed Santos, because in 2014 he released his 2nd album, Formula,

Vol. 2. He collaborated with well known and successful artists like, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Marc

Anthony, and Carlos Santana. Santos has also done a bit of acting. In the last decade, Santos

appeared on the Dominican film Sanky Panky in 2007. In 2015, he worked along Vin Disel and

Paul Walker in Furious 7. In 2016, Santos did the voice of cartoon Early Bird in The Angry

Birds Movie

Romeo Santos is a top multiplatinum, award winning, songwriter, producer, successful

Latin music superstar. He has had the most #1 hits for 5 years in a row. He has also been invited

to perform at the White House. He recently became CEO of Roc Nation, an entertainment

company founded by Jay-Z. Santos has won numerous awards.Part of my success with urban

bachata is reinventing yourself as an artist and continuing to give people different kind of

fusions, mixing up the elements and concepts without changing the beat.(Bishop). His success

has lead him to be nominated for various awards to many shows. He has been awarded, Billboard

Awards for Top Latin Album (Formula Vol 1), Top Latin Artist, Billboard Latin Awards for

Songwriter of the Year, Songwriter and Producer of the Year, and 8 Awards for Male, Latin,

Songwriter of the Year. MTV Video Awards for Best Latino Artists and many more!

Bachata music is very popular music in latin and hispanic cultures. It is very easy to learn

to dance it and so much fun. That is why Romeo Santos is such a successful Latin artist. He has
changed music for everybody and he keeps doing it. This summer, Santos released his third

album, Golden, including songs, Imitador, and Favorite Hero. He collaborates with many

famous artists of Reggaeton music, including, Nicky Jam and Daddy Yankee. Romeo Santos of

bachata music are not going anywhere. Music and artists who changing the world, are forever.
