Reflection for Rhetorical Analysis

This assignment was one of the very first ones we did. I decided to do babies born

addicted to heroin. This was the topic that I wanted to do more research on throughout the

semester, but as I was writing this paper it was very difficult to not put my emotions in play. I

wanted textual evidence to be the one that tried to convince others and draw awareness to the

topic. This paper was one of the easiest to do because it was more of an introduction to how

much harder our assignments where going to get. I would always write rhetorical essays in high

school, so this type of essay wasnt something I have never experienced before. For this

assignment, we had to pick a video of our choosing and analyze it rhetorically. We had to

analyze if this video had logos, pathos, ethos, what the message was intended for and who was

this video targeting. The video did have more logos and pathos than ethos. What logos is, is the

facts/statistics given, pathos is the emotional aspect of it like tone and usage of music and ethos

is who is credible in the video, which was doctors, nurses and an actual female that did drugs

while she was pregnant.
