Damer, Diane E., and Lauren T. Melendres. Tackling Test Anxiety: A Group for

College Students. The Journal for Specialists in Group Work , 11 June 2011

This source essentially shows different ways in which test anxiety comes about and

different ways in which someone could hopefully ease it down. For example, people could be

learning how to manage their time well, meditating, developing different study skills, learning

how to not allow your body to deteriorate, and many other ways to tackle this problem. The

main purpose of this article all the different methods that would help maintain an individuals

grades. Commented [DJ1]: Reread this.

From this specific source, I have learned many things. For instance, test anxiety is a

major problem for students across the nation and can have a major impact on a student mentally

and physically. According to Diana Damer, this is mainly because students do not have the best

study skills and habits. One thing that definitely would help ease the anxiety is that it is very

good to be with a group and discuss as to why you are having anxiety. By having a group, this

would allow an individual to have some sort of support system to help comfort the person. Also

one can learn how to take care of his or herself and develop good study habits that would prevent

someone from getting all kinds of anxiety on exam day. These are just some of the methods in

which one can prevent test anxiety.

This article was written by two authors who go by the names of Diana Damer Ph.D., who

is a Psychologist and is the director of the Anxiety Treatment Center of Austin, and Lauren

Melendres Ph.D., who is also a Psychologist and specializes in anxiety and mood disorders.

They are both highly certified in treating disorders such as anxiety, which is what makes this

source credible. This article is considered to be a reputable source because the facts within it are

not opinion-based, and also this article does not allow just anyone to write on it any put any

incorrect information, just like they do sometimes on Wikipedia. Commented [DJ2]: This is not necessary. The authors
of this source make it credible.

Powell, DH. "Behavioral Treatment of Debilitating Test Anxiety Among Medical

Students." Journal of Clinical Psychology. 60.8 (2004): 853-65. Print.

Test anxiety is a major problem for all kinds of students across the nation, especially for

medical students not just in the United States, but all across the world. According to this source,

the level of stress that test anxiety causes medical students is significantly higher than the

average student. This article essentially talks about how medical students all over the world

struggle with Debilitating Test Anxiety, or DTA. For this reason, that is why most of them do

not pass the series of examinations called USMLEs (United States Medical Licensing

Examinations) that would allow them to practice medicine. The main purpose of this article was

to show how badly DTA affects medical students across the world and it presents different

methods on how to approach this problem that would later help them pass their USMLEs.

This source is related to my inquiry because it elaborates on how test anxiety is a real

thing and it does not just go for high school and college students, but for medical students all

over the world as well. This is typically because they might have not prepared well for their

exams, they procrastinate, or are not very well organized. It is important to keep the muscles in

your nine major relaxed as much as you can, says Powell. This way the individual will be more

at ease and his or her test performance will improve.

This is a very credible article. It was written by DH Powell Affiliation at Harvard Commented [DJ4]: Dont say this. Prove it with facts.

TEDx Talks. How to Humor your Stress | Loretta LaRoche | TEDxNewBedford.

Online video clip. YouTube, 14 December 2016. Web. 13 November 2017. Commented [DJ7]: I think the speakers name is first.
Check this out.
This source essentially talks about how we should laugh about our anxiety rather than

stress about it. This is essentially main purpose of the video. By doing this, it would allow for

people to keep a positive attitude and a relaxed mind, which is essential for test taking. Loretta

LaRoche goes into detail on how to humor your stress, and allow us to have a lighter heart

so that we can lighten up the world.

After viewing this video, it was learned that if we laugh at our anxieties rather than fear

them and let them devour our insides, our spirits would lighten up, and therefore would change

the way at how we live life. The energy of the world would change and benefit peoples lives by

them having a positive attitude and a relaxed mind. This source relates to my inquiry because by

people having a more positive attitude and their minds at ease, it could lead to people not really

having test anxiety they would feel more comfortable taking tests.

Loretta LaRoche is known to be the CEO of The Humor Potential Inc., and she is Commented [DJ8]: is

famously known to travel around to different countries and talk to people about stress, and about

how to deal with it. She has been known for humoring stress for several years now and it is

clear how much knowledge she has about this topic. For this reason, this is a credible source

because of how much of a professional she is at this. Commented [DJ9]: Omit. Let the facts speak.

CrashCourse. Test Anxiety: Crash Course Study Skills #8. Online Video Clip.

YouTube, 26 September 2017. Web. 13 November 2017.

In this source, Thomas Frank gives a brief crash course on how to go head on and tackle

your performance anxiety. This video talks about how anxiety can be important to have in our

lives, but too much of it can be costly as it can prevent an individual from recollect important

information. Frank does a good job of breaking down on what test anxiety is, what causes it, and Commented [DJ10]: Dont rate it. You can say that in
the next paragraph.
how to prevent it, which is what the whole purpose of this video is about.

A lot can be obtained from this video. There are 3 big things can can lead to having test

anxiety, and that would be the fear of repeating failures from the past, fear of not knowing the

outcome, and fear of the consequences in the end. The video talks about different ways you can

deal with these fears, such as taking a little bit of time to write out your fears before you take an

exam. Studies have shown that this is an effective method of improving your performance on an

exam instead of letting your fears take over. It can also be learned from this video that no one Commented [DJ11]: Avoid second person, you.

can be defined based on past experiences. People can do what they want differently than what

they did in the past to prevent failure at anytime.

Crash Course is a very well known educational YouTube channel that provides

information that gives people an accurate/better understanding pretty much about any topic you

can think of, whether it be about test anxiety, or about chemistry, or some random history topic.

Thomas Frank is a full-time YouTuber who has been coming up with content on giving great tips

when studying and how to make students successful in school, and this is why this source is

credible. Commented [DJ12]: If it comes from a YouTube

channel or journalist, you must
look to their sources for credibility. This is not enough.

Rosado, Bethany Lyanne. The Effects of Deep Muscle Relaxation and Study Skills

Training on Test Anxiety and Academic Performance. The Effects of Deep Muscle

Relaxation and Study Skills Training on Test Anxiety and Academic Performance. Commented [DJ13]: Where is the date? Publisher?

Bethany Rosado, in her report, essentially talks about how test anxiety develops, and the

different ways in which one can improve their test performance. The main purpose of this

source is to share with others on how someone may develop test anxiety, what not to do so that

people can avoid it, and how to cope with it. To bring these methods into light, she talks about

how a group of researchers conducted an experiment to determine what ways would be effective.

This source is related to my inquiry because it talks about the different ways of how test

anxiety develops and how to cope with test anxiety. It was stated in the report that deep muscle

relaxation is key to a great test performance. It is important that your major muscle groups are

relaxed so that a person can go into the exam feeling relaxed and confident. It is also imperative

that students develop good study habits, otherwise, their anxiety levels will increase, and their

grade will suffer.

The author of this source obtained all of her information from several authors of books

and Psychologists in order come up with this report. Many are well qualified in the Psychology

field as a lot of them are Psychologists and write for different journals of Psychology. This is

why this source is credible. Commented [DJ14]: You have to list the experts.
Name them, what school they attended or are from,
and give their degrees, publications, etc.

The format of your paper was way off. However, your content was good. You did a good

job summarizing your sources, but I would ask you to avoid using the second person, you. In

proving credibility, you need to be as specific as possible. Read my comments.
