Overview
This class covers the
diverse subject matter
associated with both
the NYS Regents
curriculum as well as TEACHER:
the CollegeBoards Ms. Talleur
curriculum for the
SATII in Biology. Some
of the areas of study in
EMAIL:
this course will include scientific inquiry, ecology, biochemistry, evolution, dtalleur@hhh.k12.
molecular and human genetics, DNA technology, human physiology and ny.us
human body systems. Hopefully through this course, you will develop an
appreciation for the life sciences and perhaps even a true interest in Biology! EXTRA HELP:
Tuesdays 2:15 PM-
Keep in mind, this is an Honors level course and will include rigorous work 3:00 PM
both in the classroom and on your own. You will be having assignments over
breaks; luckily you will be notified of them well in advance. As an honors Wednesdays 6:30
student, it is expected that all assignments be completed on time and be AM-7:15 AM
reflective of your own knowledge, not that of other students. If your average
falls below what is expected, parents will be notified and a change of level
will be discussed as needed.

Our Classroom Rules


1. Be Prepared: Please bring the following items to class each day: pen, pencil, folder, and a 1.5
inch three-ring loose-leaf binder with 3 dividers (Do Now, Notes, Homework) dedicated to
Living Environment (no other subject) with paper. When the bell rings you must take out your
homework from the night before and you must complete the Do Nows that are posted on the
board.
2. Be Prompt: Lateness will not be tolerated. If you are late for class you MUST sign the late book
with your name, date, period and time. Multiple unexcused tardies will result in detention.
3. Be Productive: Inside class you must complete all assignments and work with classmates if
assigned to a group. Outside of class it is recommended that students review their notes on a
daily basis.

4. Be Polite: Be respectful to your fellow students and your teachers. Our classroom is a positive
learning environment and disrespect distracts from this environment and will not be tolerated.
5. No eating or drinking in a science classroom. Due to the nature of chemicals used in our
classroom, consuming food or drink represents a health hazard. This is a state law and must be
followed.
6. No cell phones out in class. If they are seen they will be taken away. This is a school rule!

Materials Absences
To succeed in class you MUST have: If you are absent, YOU are responsible for

Labs: In order to sit for the regents at the end of
the year each student is required to complete acknowledgement of understanding the course
1200 minutes of laboratory work (a minimum of outline.
30 labs) to satisfy the Regents Requirements.
Therefore, you must complete Labs in class. If Lets have a positive & meaningful year! :)

Homework Assignments: There will be written
