with relevant, well-chosen facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other concrete
details and examples.

Text Types and Purposes. 5W2: Write informative/explanatory texts to explore a topic and
convey ideas and information relevant to the subject. 5W2a: Introduce a topic clearly, provide a
general focus, and organize related information logically.

Objective: Students will explore their own culture and traditions, and determine what they
consider to be key components. They will create a product that showcases their culture and
traditions using a digital storytelling tool (Storybird) which they will then be able to share with
their classmates and teachers.

Teaching timeline:
Open prezi, log into Storybird account (Pearl)
The prezi is the tool being used to teach the students about Storybird. The
presentation will be used for definition of culture and traditions.
Running the prezi: Harmony
Talk about culture and tradition. Ask class: What is culture? What are traditions? What
are some examples? How do your culture and traditions affect your life?

Survey (Harmony)
Discuss survey: this survey is a pretest to see what your students understand or
know about Storybird and picture books.
After you are finished with the survey please log into your storybird account
using your login information.
Students log in to Storybird as class finishes survey
After you are done logging in to Storybird account please watch this tutorial about
how to use Storybird website.

Play when all the students are logged into their Storybird accounts.
