Type: Information
Issuing Authority: Manager PMOD

These definitions are to be utilized in the following guideline:

A red-lined as-built drawing is defined as an engineering drawing that has been revised with a red or green
pencil to reflect the actual field conditions during construction.

An as-built drawing is defined as an engineering drawing that is certified as reflecting the actual field conditions
with no changes.

Red-lined As-built Drawings

In order for a facility to be certified as mechanically complete, the construction agency (normally SAPMT) must
transmit red-lined as-builts of vendor manuals, vendor drawings, and key drawings to the Proponent prior to
MCC sign-off (per GI 2.710, Sec. 4.1.1.5 and SAEP-122, Sec. 3.5.1). The standard IK contract language is listed
below and it is recommended that this be included, as a minimum, in Schedule B of the contract:
1. CONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for Company Representative approval, a plan specifying the tools
and procedures to be used to prepare, maintain, verify accuracy, ensure the correctness, completeness
and the manner to update the construction drawings to reflect as-built conditions.

The following language may also be considered or used as a guideline for contractual requirements regarding
red-lined as-built drawings:
1. CONTRACTOR shall provide and maintain stick files containing one complete set of A size drawings of
the latest revisions of Project Drawings that reflect the current status of the WORK for use by SAUDI
ARAMCO in SAUDI ARAMCOs Administrative and WORK Site Office Facilities. In addition, CONTRACTOR
shall provide and maintain two (2) complete sets of D size drawings of the latest revisions of project
Drawings organized in binders.

2. Prior to Mechanical Completion or any partial Mechanical Completion, CONTRACTOR shall submit to
Company Representative one complete original set of red-lined as-built construction drawings marked up
with all as-built changes. Mark-ups shall be prepared in a professional manner using the color green for
deletions and the color red for additions or changes.
As-built Drawings
The construction agency must provide completed as-built drawings in accordance with SAES-A-202 and
SAEP-334 to the Proponent prior to the Performance Acceptance Certificate (per GI 2.710-6, Note 6). The
standard IK contract language is listed below and it is recommended that this be included, as a minimum, in
Schedule B of the contract:
1. Further to the requirements of Schedule A Paragraph 12.3, within thirty (30) calendar days after
Mechanical Completion CONTRACTOR shall submit the revised As-Built Drawings reflecting the as-built
status of the FACILITIES to Company Representative for approval in accordance with SAES-A-202,
SAEP-334 and the following:
a. Four (4) complete sets of D size drawings organized in binders.
b. Four (4) sets of electronic files for CADD drawings on electronic media.

The following language may also be considered in addition to the above for contractual requirements regarding
as-built drawings:
1. CONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for Company Representative approval, a plan specifying the
procedures to be used to prepare, maintain, verify accuracy, obtain approvals and issue the as-built
drawings and the quality assurance to be provided to ensure the correctness and completeness of the as-
built drawings.

2. CONTRACTOR shall deliver all originals, reproducible, project and vendor drawings and specifications and
related documents and CADD files to SAUDI ARAMCO prior to project completion. The documents shall
reflect the as-built condition of the FACILITIES.
