Dear Dr. Bruce,

Over this courses duration, I have developed previously lacking writing skills

through various assignments. By adopting the student learning outcomes (SLOs) you

have taught, editing my own personal writing, and reviewing other students work,

however, I have expanded my writing techniques and have improved my collaborative

learning skills. This letter exhibits my writing improvements throughout the semester

with revised, various works assigned for the class.

I included my resume in my portfolio because it satisfies the SLOs that took me

longer to develop and I feel that it now displays the skills my writing was previously

lacking. The satisfied SLOs presented in the resume include rhetorical focus,

organization and focus, persuasive arguments, and academic language and design. By

using formal diction, the resume displays a tone directed to various professional

audiences and therefore effectively exhibits rhetorical focus. White space and bullet

points are properly used in the Relevant Experience section, thus demonstrating

organization and focus. Proper design, color schemes, and language throughout the whole

document allow academic language and design to be satisfied. Persuasive arguments have

been satisfied in my resume under the Relevant Experience section, where experience

is listed and includes proof of qualifications for job opportunities with examples (e.g., To

qualify for management or leadership positions, I included how I organize and facilitate
orientations and interviews for Health Scholar applicants and provide constructive

feedback for Health Scholars during counseling sessions). This persuades the reader that I

am suitable for the job because it states specific tasks done in a professional setting.

I also included my teams group charter in my portfolio, which satisfies

collaboration and ethical research. My team and I have collectively written this

document, where collaboration can be seen in the beginning of the charter under our

groups mission statement and performance expectations. As a group we discussed our

expectations for the iFixit projects success and how we could work together to excel.

Ethical research has been satisfied under the References section where we listed the

documents used to research necessities to maintain team collaboration and good

communication.

I feel that this course has essentially enhanced my written work by acquainting

me with compelling composition and permitting me the chance to enhance my abilities

through consistent practice. I believe that making these beginning strides in

understanding a decent writers qualities will be most valuable as I complete my college

degree and pursue my education further.
