EDU 201- 1001-1002

I decided to compare R. Guild Gray Elementary School and Joseph Neal Elementary School

because of their differing locations. The results were not what I was expecting. I think what was

most surprising to me was the diversity between students in the schools, and the number of

English Learners in both schools. I was also surprised by the number of students and the

percentage of students that qualified for free/price reduced lunches at Gray Elementary.

Although the two schools are very close in some categories, I think that Neal offers the most

promise to students for a few reasons; with more students in attendance there is more funding for
the school, this along with its more central location allows for better teacher selection and likely

better transportation for students. I think both schools would be enjoyable to teach at. The

numbers do not change how I feel about the schools. Now that I know about this useful tool I

will use it to research other schools in my neighborhood, my CCSD school I am placed into for

observing time, and if the time comes for me to enroll my own children.
