Introduction of CPEC

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a framework of regional connectivity. CPEC


will not only benefit China and Pakistan but will have positive impact on Iran,
Afghanistan, India, Central Asian Republic, and the region. The enhancement of
geographical linkages having improved road, rail and air transportation system
with frequent and free exchanges of growth and people to people contact,
enhancing understanding through academic, cultural and regional knowledge and
culture, activity of higher volume of flow of trade and businesses, producing and
moving energy to have more optimal businesses and enhancement of co-
operation by win-win model will result in well connected, integrated region of
shared destiny, harmony and development.

2) Infrastructure: -Roads
- Motorways
- Railways

3) Gwadar: - Airport
- Expressways
- Hospitals
- Development of Gwadar University
Motorway Project under CPEC
Today we will discuss upon Motorway Projects under CPEC and how will they
benefit Pakistan economy and China economy and also the neighboring countries
For E.g.:- Iran, Afghanistan, India etc.
Under CPEC, a wide network of motorways and highways is being constructed.
There are total 13 motorways under CPEC:
Peshawar Islamabad (M1) 155Km
Islamabad Lahore (M2) 375Km
Pindi Bhattain-Faisalabad 56Km
Faisalabad- Gojra (M4) 286Km
Thakot Havelian 120Km
Havelian Hasanabdal 53Km
Hakla D.I.Khan Expressway 280Km
Lahore Abdulhakim(M3) 230Km
Multan Sukkur 393Km
Gojra Shorkot 62Km
Naukundi-Mushkel-Panjgur 90Km
Gilgit-Shindor-Chitral 364Km

Out of 13 motorways planned under CPEC, 4 motorways including Peshawar
Islamabad (M-1), Islamabad -Lahore (M-2), Pindi Bhattian -Faisalabad, and
Faisalabad- Gojra (M-4) are already operations while the rest will be completed
during the next 2-3 years, taking the overall length of motorway network to over
2000 km.

Efforts Taken By National Highway Authority
National Highway Authority has been working actively to build new
highways to improve east-west connectivity in the in country and
provide modern road links with Baluchistan with special focus on
Gwadar port.NHA has also completed some much delayed projects in
Balochistan proving connectivity to Gwadar Port while the fourth is
near completion. Rs 18.6 billion have been spent on the completion of
449 kilometers long Basima-Nag-Panjgoor-Hoshab Highway (N-85).

M-8 Gwadar-Ratodero Motorway project.

The M8 starts from Ratodero in Sindh Province and enter Balochistan


Province passing near the towns of Khuzdar, Awaran, Hoshab, and
Turbat before joining the Makran Coastal Highway just east of the port
city of Gwadar. The construction work of Khuzdar-Shahdadkot section
of Rattodero-Gwadar Motorway (M-8) is going on smoothly and the
project would be completed by March. The M-8 will have 4-lanes and a
total length of 892 km.

How it will benefit Pakistan:


CPEC will open windows of great opportunities for Pakistan and will greatly help
in overcoming poverty, unemployment, inequities of smaller provinces and help
Pakistan in becoming the next Asian tiger Investments by China will boost
Pakistans $274 billion GDP by over 15 %CPEC from all counts will prove a game
changer and will make China a real stakeholder in Pakistans stability and security.
It is a win-win situation for both. It will greatly expand the scope for the
sustainable and stable development of Chinas economic development.
