Types of adoptions
Prospective adoptive parents have several choices to make as they decide what type of
adoption to pursue. Each comes with its own variations on the legal process and with its
own costs, benefits and risks. You can adopt within the United States or in another country.
For domestic adoptions, there are four types: adoptions through a private agency, through a
lawyer or counselor, stepparent adoptions, and through a public agency or foster care.

DOMESTIC ADOPTION
