What is the Major Function of Technology in Schools?

Purpose of the research:


To find out what Principals thought of using technology in schools, what uses it serves in
the schools, and to see if there are any discrepancies between different principals of
different levels of experience, and gender.

METHODOLOGY

What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: 310 Principals, 126 males, 184 females.

Procedures: - The principals were asked two questions: Has technology had an
impact your school? If it has, in what specific ways?
- interview given by students in an Educational Leadership course as
a certification requirement.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source:


-The questions given were quantitative and qualitative.

Data Analysis:
- responses were read aloud multiple time to become familiar with the data
gained. Only data retrieved from the interviews were used in formulating their
findings.
-data coded into categories
-10% sampling was coded to find consistency

Findings or Results (or main points of the article):


Male Principals with more experience found that technology was more valuable to
schools in more ways, than their Female and less experienced colleagues did.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession): according to the findings in this


article, it is clear that technology plays a vital role in how we teach our students, from
sharing information, to aiding in gathering information, and easing how teachers plan
lessons and use teaching tools.

REFLECTIONS

Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your


school/work): according to those in charge of education, technology holds a powerful
role in how teachers and students alike gather, use, and share information. This should
tell me that technology is more widely accepted in schools than ever before, and I should
take advantage of its usefulness and use it to learn more effectively.
