CURRICULUM MAP 5

This curriculum map incorporates holistic health into a typical workplace setting. The

components of holistic health are incorporated into meetings that would otherwise still occur.

Social

While identifying possible marketing strategies, several social supports will be

incorporated. After outlining the marketing needs of the company, employees will be

encouraged to brainstorm ideas with a partner, requiring the practice of communication skills

including sharing ideas, listening, and acknowledging anothers ideas. Following the

presentation of these ideas to the whole group, teams will be formed to expand on the ideas and

create comprehensive plans. This opportunity will increase the teamwork skills of each member,

helping them to be successful in a social setting and develop a sense of unity (Why is teamwork

important?, 2017). Feedback will then be reviewed to determine what other types of social

supports are necessary.

Emotional

To address emotional needs of employees, the major issue of stress will be discussed.

Stress can have many negative health impacts, both physically and emotionally. Workplace

stress, when gone without workplace intervention or support, can also lead to depression or

anxiety disorders (Mental Health Information, 2017). These factors, as well as coping methods

will be the focus of the meeting. Employees will have the chance to share their own coping

methods, and methods like small increments of meditation and breathing exercises will be

introduced. Ideas on forming support groups within the company will also be explored and

offered to employees.

Physical
CURRICULUM MAP 6

Employees should be informed of the importance of physical health. Physical health can

reduce stress, increase productivity, and lead to an overall happier lifestyle. Productivity is

increased through physical health through the reduction of sickness and an increase in

stimulation (Worker Productivity, 2016). To begin making changes, employees will earn

rewards for walking or biking to and from work. Employees will also be encouraged to partake

in physical wellness activities on their own. Stretching at their desk or in their office will be

encouraged and effective exercises will be taught.

Spiritual

Supporting spiritual health is necessary to support holistic health. Studies have shown

that yoga-based programs have met the spiritual needs of participants as well as their physical

needs (Jasperson, 2014). These types of yoga programs will be made available in order to teach

yoga and allow employees to partake in yoga on their own. Employees will be able to participate

as much as they like.

Nutritional

Proper nutrition plays a large role in overall health. Nutrition can reduce the risk of

several health impairments such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, as

well as numerous others. Employees will be given the tools to know how to make good nutrition

choices as well as easy access to foods with high nutritious value. Additional concerns, ideas,

and questions will be taken from employees to ensure that their nutritious needs are being met.

Intellectual

The focus of the meeting will be on the companys educational program that offers

financial support to employees wishing to receive additional education. This investment will

benefit both the company and the employees who wish to pursue additional degrees or

certifications. The questions of employees will be taken to help them receive the necessary

information to get started.
