ROTARACT MUMBAI presents IDEA SUMMIT

2010
Information Note

The Idea Summit is a Rotaract Mumbai initiative targeted at bringing a sense of


entrepreneurship in them. The DNA of the event lies in the belief that youngsters
today are brimming with ideas, and need a direction to realize them. The summit is
aimed at inspiring the youth to believe in their ideas and build their dream
businesses & in turn fueling growth, creating jobs and accelerating the economy.

This unique and exclusive event will consist of panel discussions with young
entrepreneurs, established businesspersons and industry professionals. The Idea
Summit would also house the launch of Catalyst: a business plan competition,
which would give 10 selected teams out of 100's an opportunity to train under the
best and present their plans to VCs.

The idea Summit will be held on Saturday 28th August, 2010 at the
Welingkar Institute of management, Matunga from 10 am to 5 PM.

The panelists include Keynote speaker Anil Srivastava(CEO, Kings XI Punjab) Aditya
Mhatre(Co-Founder, IndiCast), Priya Naik(CEO Samhita social entrepreneurship
organization), Venkatesh Iyer (CEO, Goli Vada Pav), Ashish Gowalkar(Creator-Dance
India Dance), Mayank Seksaria (Founder, Greenlight), Saurabh Saxena (Founder
CEO Mexus Education), Nirmit Parikh(Chairman, 3P Consultants, Director- Indian
Entrepreneurship Association) and Dale Bhagwakar

1100-1300: Panel Discussion- The BIG BANG of Ideas

The panel will comprise of four successful entrepreneurs. Each panelist will make a
short 10-minute presentation of his/her entrepreneurial venture.

This session commences with answering the most basic of questions- ‘How to begin
your business?’ The discussion will primarily focus on how small ideas and thoughts
can make it big, how these ideas are the foundations of a successful business and
value creation of ideas.

1300-1345: Networking Lunch

1345-1515: Panel Discussion- ‘Me’- The BIG Idea

The Panelist will consist to four industry professionals who are experts in personal
marketing. How networking will help them establish personal and organizational
brands.

For Entrepreneurs, this is the most important aspect of his/her venture. The
discussion will focus on how entrepreneurs will have to sell their ideas and enter the
market with a strong standing idea, highlighting the uniqueness and benefactors of
their business. For them, the venture is more personal because a business idea
depends on the person and the idea that he/she carries into the industry.

1530-1630: Panel Discussion- ‘Dreaming Big’.

For the demographic of 16-30, their age bracket envisages the future. Therefore,
the power of an idea is of paramount importance. Most of us simply give up in the

pursuit of these ideas, to dream big and have belief in ones ideas are the
cornerstone of every entrepreneurs beginning.

This session covers the precisely those aspects, to dream big and to pursue an idea
with belief in them. Also, a major to discussion the pitfalls of ideas in terms of
money, the risk a person takes when he/she follows the entrepreneurs path and
overcoming these hurdles.

Rotaract in Mumbai gets new leadership;
Aims to carry out year-long youth activation programme with education as
a focus

Rotaract District Organisation (R. I. Dist. 3140), Mumbai, one of the most vibrant
and active parts of world’s largest Youth Movement – Rotaract, announced Rtr.
Harikrishnan Pillai as its District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for the year 2010-
11.

Rtr Harikrishnan while accepting the position said, “I’m honoured and priviledged to
have got an opportunity to lead such a vibrant movement called Rotaract. Today’s
youth is responsible and very well aware about the challenges in the society.
Rotaract represents the same youthful spirit and attitude. We as the world’s largest
youth organisation are ready to take the challenges make the world a better place
to live. Our focus this year will be education. With projects such as Project Siksha,
CDEP, and World Responsible Youth, we will be motivating and encouraging youth
to contribute towards the education and will be raising funds for the cause.”

The Rotaract Movement in Mumbai is one of the most active youth movements in
and around South East Asia. Rotaractors around the city of Mumbai are committed
and have been actively involved in promoting ideals of peace, harmony and
community welfare across the city. We boast of over 1500 projects conducted by
over 70 active clubs (including around 35 college based clubs) and 2,500
Rotaractors spanning the revenue districts of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai,
covering areas from CST to Badlapur, Bhiwandi to Shahapur, Churchgate to Dahanu.

Rotaract District 3140 Initiatives for the year 2010-11

Protsahan: It will see Rotaractors adding value to their immediate community with
a “Each one..Teach one” approach.

Shiksha: Through Shiksha, we will take our cause even further by joining hands
with passionate NGO's & further the cause of education for the underprivileged.

Catalyst: An opportunity in the form of a Business plan competition for the youth to
explore their innovative and creative business idea and get an opportunity to
present their ideas to prospective investors.

Friends of Rotaract (FOR): FOR would enable us to broaden the reach of Rotaract
by joining hands with like minded individuals and organizations. FOR will not bind
the partners with the mandates of Rotaract, but would create synergies to take up
causes of social and youth relevance. The partners would include Non
Governmental Organizations (NGO), Corporate bodies, Governmental bodies, etc.
Through this initiative we will be able to reach to a larger audience and also scale
up our activities.

World Responsible Youth Day – Celebrated on 1st Sunday of every year, WRY
aims at creating awareness and motivating youth to participate and contribute
towards the education of underprivileged through an extensive road show including
street plays and skits.

Leadership Summit: With Rotaract realigning its energies on youth transformation


initiatives like entrepreneurship and leadership, we present the best heads on one
single platform discussing the opportunities available to youth today. This summit is
scheduled for April 2011.
